PRIVATE ADVERTISEMENTS.

BOROUGH OF MATAURA.

In the matter of “The Public Works Act, 1894”; and in the matter of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900.”

NOTICE is hereby given that it is the intention of the Council of the Borough of Mataura, on behalf of the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the said borough, to take or set apart for the purpose of a certain public work, to wit, the widening of Denbigh Street, being a street in the said borough, all that parcel of land situate in the Town of Mataura, containing by admeasurement 1 rood and 19 poles, more or less, being part of section numbered 14, Block XII., on the map of the said town. Bounded towards the north-west by the other part of said Section 14, 840·7 links; towards the south-west by Denbigh Street, 853 links; and towards the north-east by a street or streets being the junction of Denbigh Street aforesaid with the street forming the north-eastern boundary of said Section 14, 88 links. And notice is hereby given that a plan showing the land required to be taken or set apart has been prepared, and a copy thereof deposited at the office of the Town Clerk of the Borough of Mataura, where it is open for inspection in terms of “The Public Works Act, 1894.”

All persons affected by the taking or setting-apart of the said land as aforesaid are hereby called upon to set forth in writing any well-grounded objection to the execution of the said work or to the taking or setting-apart of the said land, and to send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the said Council of the Borough of Mataura.

I HEREBY give notice that the following is the result of a poll of ratepayers, taken on the 23rd November, 1901, on a proposal that “The Rating on Unimproved Value Act, 1896,” be adopted in the Raglan County, and that henceforth property be rated upon the basis of the unimproved value thereof:—

STATUTORY NOTICE TO CREDITORS.

In the estate of Harry May, deceased.

PURSUANT to the 75th section of “The Trustee Act, 1883,” notice is hereby given that all creditors and any other persons having any claims or demands upon or against the estate of HARRY MAY, late of Dunedin, in the Provincial District of Otago, in the Colony of New Zealand, Confectioner, deceased, who died at Dunedin aforesaid on or about the 4th day of June, 1901, probate of whose will was granted to John Cooke, of Dunedin aforesaid, Printer, the Executor named in the said will, under the seal of the Supreme Court of New Zealand at Dunedin, and dated the 15th day of July, 1901, are hereby required to send in writing the particulars of their claims or demands to the said John Cooke, the Executor in the said will named, at the office of Charles Hadfield Statham, Accountant, situated in Dowling Street, Dunedin aforesaid, on or before the 18th day of December, 1901. And notice is hereby also given that at the expiration of the last-mentioned day the Executor will proceed to distribute the assets of the said Harry May, having regard to the claims of which the Executor has then had notice, and that the Executor will not be liable for the assets or any part thereof so distributed to any person of whose claim the Executor has not had notice at the time of such distribution.

In the matter of Matheson Prain and Co. (Limited).

AT an extraordinary general meeting of the members of the above-named company, duly convened, and held at the registered office of the company, Crawford Street, Dunedin, on the 3rd day of December, 1901, the following extraordinary resolutions were duly passed:—

“That it has been proved to the satisfaction of this meeting that the company cannot, by reason of its liabilities, continue its business, and that it is advisable to wind up the same, and accordingly that the company be wound up voluntarily.” And

“That Walter Hislop, of Dunedin, Company-manager, be and he is hereby appointed Liquidator for the purposes of such winding-up.”
