Altering Boundaries of Waipawa and Patangata Counties.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this thirteenth day of November, 1900.

Present:

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE R. J. SEDDON PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS in exercise of the powers conferred by section three of “The Counties Act 1886 Amendment Act, 1895” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), the Waipawa County Council and the Patangata County Council respectively did, by an instrument bearing date the twenty-fourth day of October, one thousand nine hundred, formally agree that the boundaries of the said counties should be altered to the extent set forth in the said instrument and also in the Schedule hereto: And whereas it is expedient that such alteration of boundaries be approved by the Governor in Council, and that such altered boundary be defined in terms of the said Act:

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the power and authority conferred by the said Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, do hereby order and declare that, on and after the publication of these presents in the New Zealand Gazette, the boundaries of the Counties of Waipawa and Patangata respectively shall be those set forth under their respective headings in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

PATANGATA COUNTY.

All that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District bounded towards the north generally by the County of Hawke’s Bay, as described in the First Schedule to “The Counties Act, 1876”: towards the east generally by the sea: towards the south generally by the Akitio County as described in the Schedule to “The Akitio County Act, 1898,” from the sea to Wahatuara (Trig. Station No. 52c): thence towards the north-west generally by a right line to Oporae (Trig. Station No. 51); thence by a right line to the easternmost corner of Mangatoro No. 4 Block; thence by Section No. 3, Block XV., Mangatoro Survey District, and a line along the middle of the road forming the eastern boundary of that section to the south-eastern boundary-line of Ngapaeruru No. 7b Block; thence by that block, Section No. 1, Block XI., Mangatoro Survey District, and Small Grazing-run No. 73, to the Te Uri Road; thence by a line along the middle of that road to the eastern boundary of Section No. 3, Block VIII., Mangatoro Survey District, about 44 chains from the north-eastern corner of the said Section No. 3; and thence by parts of the eastern and northern boundary-lines of that section to the southernmost corner of the Mangangarara No. 3 Block: thence towards the south-west by a right line to Trig. Station No. 27, Mangatoro Survey District; thence by a right line to the south-western corner of Block LXXVII., in the Mangatoro Survey District aforesaid; thence by a line along the middle of the Mangapuaka Stream to the Wangai Stream: thence again towards the north-west by a line along the middle of the said Wangai Stream and of the Taurekaitai Stream to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of Block LXXX., in the Takapau Survey District; thence to and by that block to the Purimu Stream: thence towards the south by a line along the middle of the said Purimu Stream to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary-line of Block LXXXI.: thence again towards the north-west by a line to and by the said Block LXXXI. to the Ngahape Stream: thence towards the north and again towards the north-west by a line along the middle of that stream to a point in line with the south-western boundary-line of Block XLII., in the Motuotaraia Survey District: thence towards the north-east by a right line to and by the said Block XLII. and Blocks XXXIX. and XL. respectively, and by the production of the south-western boundary-line of the last-mentioned block until it intersects a line being the production of the south-western boundary-line of Block LXXXVII. in the said Motuotaraia Survey District; thence by the latter line to the middle of the Tangatupuru Stream: thence again towards the north-west by a line along the middle of the said Tangatupuru Stream and of the Mangatarata Stream to the Tukituki River: thence again towards the south-west by a line along the middle of the said Tukituki River to the new course of the Waipawa River: thence again towards the north-west by a line along the middle of the new course of the Waipawa River aforesaid to the Waipawa and Tamumu Road: thence again towards the south-west by a line along the middle of that road to the junction of the Tamumu and Patangata Roads; thence by a right line to the easternmost corner of Block XIV., in the Waipukurau Survey District; thence by the said Block XIV. to its northernmost corner: and thence again towards the north-west by a line along the middle of Te Aute Road to the County of Hawke’s Bay aforesaid.

WAIPAWA COUNTY.

All that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District bounded towards the north generally by the Hawke’s Bay County as described in the First Schedule to “The Counties Act, 1876,” from the summit of the Ruahine Range to the Patangata County; thence towards the east generally by the Patangata County hereinbefore described to the north-eastern corner of Pahiatua County; thence towards the south generally by Pahiatua County as described in the Schedule to “The Counties Act Amendment Act, 1888,” to the Manawatu Gorge; and thence towards the west generally by the summit of the Ruahine Range to the place of commencement.
