Bonus on Mineral Oil produced from Shale obtained in New Zealand.—Extension of Time.

THE time for notifying intention to claim the under-mentioned bonus, and for making such claim, has been extended as follows:—

Notice of intention to claim the bonus must be given in writing to the Colonial Secretary not later than the 31st December, 1900.

The claim must be made before the 30th June, 1901.

Bonus on Mineral Oil produced from Shale obtained in New Zealand.

NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus will be paid for the production of mineral oil under the following conditions:—

  1. A bonus of 1s. per gallon (£5,000) will be paid on the first 100,000 gallons of mineral oil produced from shale obtained in the Colony of New Zealand, the oil to be of a quality approved of by Government, and to be sold at a price not exceeding 1s. a gallon at any port of shipment in the colony.

  2. Notice of intention to claim the aforesaid bonus must be given in writing to the Colonial Secretary not later than the 31st December, 1899.

  3. The claim must be made before the 30th June, 1900.

  4. The first claimant who proves to the satisfaction of the Government that he has fulfilled all the conditions to be the recipient of the bonus.

  5. The other conditions—as to quantity, priority, quality, and value—to be fulfilled to the satisfaction of an officer appointed for the purpose by the Government.

Bonus for the Production of Quicksilver.

Mines Office,
Wellington, 7th June, 1900.

NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus of fourpence (4d.) per pound will be paid on the production of the first one hundred thousand pounds weight (100,000 lb.) of good marketable retorted quicksilver, free from all impurities, from any mine in New Zealand, on the following conditions, that is to say:—

  1. That at least one-third of the quantity is produced on or before the 31st March, 1903, and the remaining two-thirds on or before the 31st March, 1904.

  2. No bonus will be payable until the whole of the one hundred thousand pounds (100,000 lb.) of quicksilver has been produced as stipulated to the satisfaction of an officer to be appointed by the Minister of Mines, and on whose certificate alone the bonus will be paid.

  3. In the event of more than one person producing the required quantities of quicksilver before the dates named, inquiry will be made by the officer above referred to, when, if it is found that each applicant is equally entitled to a bonus, the amount will be divided in proportion to the quantities produced by each applicant, but in no case shall any bonus be paid until at least one hundred thousand pounds (100,000 lb.) of quicksilver has been produced in the aggregate.

Applications for Analyst invited.

Mines Department,
Wellington, 1st November, 1900.

WRITTEN applications, accompanied by testimonials, will be received at this office up to noon of Monday, the 3rd December, for the appointments of Analyst to the Mines Department and Analyst under “The Adulteration Prevention Act, 1880,” at a salary of £400 per annum. The person who may be appointed will be required to reside in Wellington.

Rule under “The Administration Act, 1879.”

WE, the undersigned, being Judges of the Supreme Court of New Zealand, do hereby, by virtue of section 22 of “The Administration Act, 1879,” and of every other power in that behalf enabling us, make the following rule:—

  1. The Court may accept, as the security required to be given by any administrator or other person appointed to administer any estate under “The Administration Act, 1879,” or any Act amending the same, the bond of any incorporated company or guarantee society which company or society is approved of for that purpose by His Excellency the Governor in Council.

  2. This rule shall come into force on the 1st day of December, 1900.

Fixing Sittings of the Supreme Court in the Northern Judicial District.

WE, the Judges of the Supreme Court of New Zealand, in pursuance of the powers vested in us by “The Supreme Court Act, 1882,” hereby make the following rules respecting the places and times for holding sittings of the Supreme Court and sittings in Chambers, in the Northern Judicial District, for the year 1901:—

Sittings for the trial of criminal cases will be held at the Supreme Court House, AUCKLAND, to commence on the following days, at 11 a.m.:—

Monday, 18th February.
Monday, 20th May.
Monday, 12th August.
Monday, 18th November.

Sittings for the trial of civil actions will be held at the Supreme Court House, AUCKLAND, to commence on the following days, at 11 a.m.:—

Wednesday, 6th March.
Monday, 3rd June.
Monday, 26th August.
Monday, 2nd December.

The trial of causes under “The Divorce and Matrimonial Causes Act, 1867,” may take place at any of the above-mentioned sittings for the trial of civil actions.

Sittings of the Court in Banco will be held at the Courthouse, AUCKLAND, every Wednesday, except during vacation, the absence of the Judge, or when he is engaged on other business.

Sittings in Chambers will be held at the Judge’s Chambers, in the Courthouse, AUCKLAND, every Tuesday and Friday, except during vacation, the absence of the Judge, or when he is engaged on other business.

Sittings in Chambers at other times and during vacation, in respect of urgent business, may be held at such times and places as may suit the convenience of the Judge.

Sittings for the trial of criminal and civil cases, and of causes under “The Divorce and Matrimonial Causes Act, 1867,” will be held at the Courthouse, NEW PLYMOUTH, to commence on the following days, at 11 a.m.:—

Wednesday, 20th February.
Wednesday, 2nd October.

Business in Banco and Chambers may be disposed of in the course of these sittings, at such days and hours as the Judge may appoint.

Sittings for the trial of criminal and civil cases, and of causes under “The Divorce and Matrimonial Causes Act, 1867,” will be held at the Courthouse, GISBORNE, to commence on the following days, at 10.30 a.m.:—

Thursday, 25th April.
Thursday, 5th September.

Business in Banco and in Chambers may be disposed of in the course of these sittings, at such days and hours as the Judge may appoint.

If any of the days above appointed for sittings should be a public holiday, the sittings will commence on the first day after the day so appointed which is not a holiday.
