Inner Route to Torres Strait.—Three-fathom Patch, Princess Charlotte Bay.
Notice is hereby given that Lieutenant-Commander Monro, of H.M. surveying-ship “Dart,” reports the existence of a coral patch 300 to 400 yards in width, on which the least depth at L.W.S. is 18 ft., in the following position:—
Dhu Reef Beacon, N. 47° E., distant 5⁵⁄₁₀ miles.
Ead Reef Beacon, N. 15½° W., distant 6³⁄₁₀ miles.
Summit E., Cliff Island, S. 66° W., distant 8⁸⁄₁₀ miles.
Latitude, 14° 10′ 36″ S.
Longitude, 143° 55′ 36″ E.

TASMANIA.
Notice is hereby given that on and after Friday, the 23rd November, 1900, a light will be exhibited at One Tree Point, River Derwent, the particulars of which are as follow:—
Occulting, showing a steady white light, with total eclipses at short intervals, the duration of the light and of the eclipse being about equal. The light will be erected on a wooden structure: height of focal plane above sea-level, about 41 ft. The light will be visible in clear weather at a distance of about eight miles.

Settlement of Claim for Compensation under “The Mining Act, 1891.”

Wellington, 31st October, 1900.
IN pursuance of the provisions of the 153rd section of “The Mining Act, 1891,” it is hereby notified that the claim for compensation enumerated in the Schedule hereto, in respect to a Proclamation issued under the hand of His Excellency the Governor and the Public Seal of the Colony on the 29th day of June, 1900, declaring that Black Sand Creek, with its tributaries, in the Provincial District of Nelson, shall be watercourses into which tailings, &c., may be discharged, has been settled by agreement, as provided by the said Act.

Notice of intention to claim the bonus must be given in writing to the Colonial Secretary not later than the 31st December, 1900.
The claim must be made before the 30th June, 1901.

Bonus on Mineral Oil produced from Shale obtained in New Zealand.

NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus will be paid for the production of mineral oil under the following conditions:—

A bonus of 1s. per gallon (£5,000) will be paid on the first 100,000 gallons of mineral oil produced from shale obtained in the Colony of New Zealand, the oil to be of a quality approved of by Government, and to be sold at a price not exceeding 1s. a gallon at any port of shipment in the colony.

Notice of intention to claim the aforesaid bonus must be given in writing to the Colonial Secretary not later than the 31st December, 1899.

The claim must be made before the 30th June, 1900.

The first claimant who proves to the satisfaction of the Government that he has fulfilled all the conditions to be the recipient of the bonus.
-
The other conditions—as to quantity, priority, quality, and value—to be fulfilled to the satisfaction of an officer appointed for the purpose by the Government.

Bonus for the Production of Quicksilver.
Mines Office,
Wellington, 7th June, 1900.
NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus of fourpence (4d.) per pound will be paid on the production of the first one hundred thousand pounds weight (100,000 lb.) of good marketable retorted quicksilver, free from all impurities, from any mine in New Zealand, on the following conditions, that is to say:—

That at least one-third of the quantity is produced on or before the 31st March, 1903, and the remaining two-thirds on or before the 31st March, 1904.

No bonus will be payable until the whole of the one hundred thousand pounds (100,000 lb.) of quicksilver has been produced as stipulated to the satisfaction of an officer to be appointed by the Minister of Mines, and on whose certificate alone the bonus will be paid.

In the event of more than one person producing the required quantities of quicksilver before the dates named, inquiry will be made by the officer above referred to, when, if it is found that each applicant is equally entitled to a bonus, the amount will be divided in proportion to the quantities produced by each applicant, but in no case shall any bonus be paid until at least one hundred thousand pounds (100,000 lb.) of quicksilver has been produced in the aggregate.
