of a provisional Crown lease in the name of WATKIN
ELDRIDGE LEWIS, of Woodville, Labourer, for Sec-
tion 2, Block XIII., Mount Cerberus Survey District, being
the land comprised in Crown lease, Vol. 10A, folio 115, and
evidence having been lodged of the destruction of the said
Crown lease, I hereby give notice that I will issue the
provisional Crown lease as requested unless caveat be lodged
forbidding the same on or before the 8th day of November,
1900.

RESULT of poll taken on 3rd October, 1900, in pursuance
of sections 5 and 6 of “The Rating on Unimproved
Value Act, 1896,” and under “The Local Government Re-
form Act, 1899,” upon a proposal that “The Rating on
Unimproved Value Act, 1896,” be adopted in the Borough
of Devonport, and that henceforth property be rated upon
the basis of the unimproved value thereof:—
Number of freeholders and ratepayers on the roll 995
Number of votes on the roll . . . 995
Votes for the proposal . . . 356
Votes against the proposal . . . 109
Informal votes . . . 0
As the total number of votes recorded in favour of the
proposal exceeds those against it, I declare the proposal to
be duly carried.

BOROUGH OF MAORI HILL.
NOTICE is hereby given that the Council of the Borough
of Maori Hill have resolved to divert the District
Road between Sections Thirty-six (36) and Thirty-nine (39),
and Sections Thirty-one (31) and Thirty-two (32), Block
Eight (VIII.), North Harbour and Blueskin District, and to
widen the Main Road through said Section Thirty-two and
fronting part of Section Section Twenty-four (including
Allotment Four of the subdivision of such section) and
Section Thirty-one of said block and district, as shown by
the survey of John Langmuir, and indicated by red and
purple colours respectively in the plan prepared by him,
dated August, 1900, and deposited in the office of the Chief
Surveyor at Dunedin as N. 69, and for these purposes to
take, under the provisions of “The Municipal Corporations
Act, 1886,” and “The Public Works Act, 1894,” the follow-
ing lands, namely: Parts of the said Sections Thirty-one
and Thirty-two, and of the said Allotment Four, adjoining
the said District Road and Main Road respectively, as
delineated in the said plan, and comprising thirty-three
poles of Section Thirty-one, one acre two roods and three
poles of Section Thirty-two, and six poles of Allotment Four.
And notice is hereby further given that a copy of the said
plan is deposited at Mrs. Gould’s Store, Woodhaugh, and is
open for inspection by all persons at all reasonable hours,
and the Council calls upon all persons affected to set forth
in writing any well-grounded objections to the execution of
such works or to the taking of such lands, and to send such
writing within forty days from the first publication of this
notice to the Council.

B.S., University of Durham, now residing in Picton,
hereby give notice that I intend applying on the 2nd day of
November next to have my name placed on the Medical
Register for the Colony of New Zealand; and that I have
deposited the evidence of my qualification in the office of
the Registrar of Births and Deaths at Picton.

In the matter of “The Companies Act, 1882,” and of the
Manawatu Sports Association (Limited).
AT an extraordinary general meeting of the members of
the above-named association, duly convened, and held
at the registered office of the said association in the Theatre
Royal Buildings at Palmerston North on the 18th day of
October, 1900, the following extraordinary resolution was
duly passed:—
“That it has been proved to the satisfaction of this meet-
ing that the association cannot, by reason of its liabilities,
continue in business, and that it is advisable to wind up the
same, and accordingly that the association be wound up
voluntarily.”
And at the same meeting JAMES BIGG WITHER, of Palmers-
ton North, Solicitor, was appointed Liquidator for the
purposes of such winding-up.
