Time for Election of Councillor, Puketapu Riding, County of Hawke’s Bay, extended.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-sixth day of September, 1900.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS an extraordinary vacancy has occurred in the office of Councillor for the Puketapu Riding of the County of Hawke’s Bay, and, owing to the non-reporting of the fact, there is not sufficient time now available to give the several notices required under section forty-six of “The Regulation of Local Elections Act, 1876,” and it is expedient to extend the time for holding the election of a Councillor for the said riding:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred by “The Counties Act, 1886,” and of all other powers and authorities in any wise enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby appoint the twenty-fourth day of October, one thousand nine hundred, for holding the election of a Councillor under “The Counties Act, 1886,” for the Puketapu Riding of the County of Hawke’s Bay.

District Valuers appointed under “The Government Valuation of Land Act, 1896.”

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-sixth day of September, 1900.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in him by “The Government Valuation of Land Act, 1896,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby appoint—
JAMES AMES, of Wellington, and
JOHN GLEN, of Richmond, Nelson,
to be District Valuers under the said Act; also, in order to remove all doubt as to the manner in which these appointments are made, it is hereby declared that the provisions of neither “The Civil Service Reform Act, 1886,” nor “The Civil Service Insurance Act, 1893,” apply to the persons so appointed.

Altering Regulations under “The Government Valuation of Land Act, 1896.”

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-sixth day of September, 1900.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of all powers and authorities vested in him by “The Government Valuation of Land Act, 1896,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby further alter the regulations under the said Act made by Order in Council dated the fifteenth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight, to the following extent:—
In Regulation No. 22, by striking out, in lines four, five, and six thereof, the words “and the annually recurring expenditure in keeping the valuations and other particulars appearing on the rolls at all times correct,” and by adding the following further proviso thereto:—
“Provided further that the annual expenditure incidental to the revision or correction of the rolls shall be divided into equal one-third shares, one such share to be paid by each of the two departments before mentioned, and the remaining share to be paid by the local authorities to whom rolls have been supplied in such proportion as the Valuer-General may determine.”

Further Regulations under “The Immigration Restriction Act, 1899.”

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-sixth day of September, 1900.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by “The Immigration Restriction Act, 1899,” it is among other things enacted that the Governor in Council may make regulations for the inspection of vessels, their passengers, crews, and papers:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the said Act, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby make the following regulations, and with the like advice and consent doth order that these regulations shall take effect on and after the twenty-sixth day of September, one thousand nine hundred:—
REGULATIONS.

No vessel having passengers on board coming to any port from any place outside New Zealand shall come alongside any wharf or landing-place until an officer appointed under “The Immigration Restriction Act, 1899,” shall have inspected the passengers for the purposes of the said Act, and shall have notified to the master of such vessel that his inspection has been completed.

In the event of breach of this regulation the master shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding £50.

Constituting a Kauri-gum District under “The Kauri-gum Industry Act, 1898.”

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-sixth day of September, 1900.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by “The Kauri-gum Industry Act, 1898” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is enacted that the Governor in Council may from time to time divide the North Island of New Zealand, or any portion thereof, into such districts as he shall think fit, and notice of the constitution of every such district shall be given in the Gazette:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by the said Act, do hereby set apart the portion of the said North Island mentioned in the Schedule hereto as a district for the purposes of the said Act, the description and boundaries whereof shall be those set forth in the Schedule hereto; and I do hereby declare that, for the purposes of the said Act, such district shall be known by the name set over the description of such district.
SCHEDULE.
CITY OF AUCKLAND.
ALL that area in the Provincial District of Auckland, bounded as follows: Commencing in the middle of Franklin Street at the original high-water mark of Freeman’s Bay; thence bounded towards the west by lines, 50 and 300 links: towards the north by lines, 1225, 700, 270, 4300, 1735, 82, 250, 758, 852, 1171, 1059, and 1800 links: towards the east by a line, 1500 links, to the Strand; thence by the Strand, 50 links; thence to and by Suburban Section No. 96; thence by a line to and by the east side of Stanley Street to the Government Domain, by the Government Domain and the Hospital Reserve to the road known as Park Road; thence by the northern side of said road to a point in line with the eastern boundary-line of Allotment No. 22 of Section No. 3 of the Suburbs of Auckland; thence by a right line to and by said boundary-line and by its production to the south side of Carlton Gore Road; thence by that side of said road to the western boundary-line of subdivisional Lot No. 37 of original Allotment No. 4 of Section No. 3 of the Suburbs of Auckland; thence by Lot No. 37 aforesaid, and by Lots Nos. 55, 56, 65, 66, 75, 76, 85, 86, 95, 96, 105, 106, 115, 116, and 13, all of the original Allotment No. 4 of said Section No. 3 of the Suburbs of Auckland, and by the western boundary-line of Allotment No. 13, before mentioned, produced to the southern side of Kyber Pass Road; thence by said road
