A PROCLAMATION.

BY virtue and in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the one-hundred-and-seventy-second section of “The Land Act, 1892,” and of every other power and authority enabling me in that behalf, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto shall be subject to the provisions of sections one hundred and seventy-two to one hundred and eighty-six of Part V. of “The Land Act, 1892,” relating to small grazing-runs.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this seventh day of September, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred.

Prohibiting Net Fishing in Part of Wanganui River.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this fifteenth day of September, 1900.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by “The Sea-fisheries Act, 1894,” it is enacted that the Governor in Council may from time to time make regulations, which shall have general force and effect throughout the colony, or particular force and effect only in any waters or places specified therein, for, amongst other things, altogether prohibiting the use of nets of any sort:

And whereas by regulations made by Order in Council dated the nineteenth day of February, one thousand nine hundred, the use of nets of any sort for taking fish in the portion of the Wanganui River above the Aramoho Railway-bridge was prohibited:

And whereas it is desirable to revoke the said regulations, and to make others in lieu thereof:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power conferred upon him by the said Act and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby revoke the said regulations of the nineteenth day of February, one thousand nine hundred, and doth hereby make the following regulations in lieu thereof:—

REGULATIONS.

  1. The use of nets of any sort for taking fish in the portion of the Wanganui River above a point three miles up the river from the Aramoho Railway-bridge is hereby prohibited. Such point shall be marked by a white post on each bank of the river, each post having the words “Netting limit” painted thereon.

  2. Any person committing a breach of the above regulation shall be liable to a penalty of not less than one pound and not exceeding twenty pounds.
