Time and Place for the First Meeting of the Contributors to the Pahiatua Hospital appointed.

H IS Excellency the Governor has, in terms of section 49 of “The Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act, 1885,” appointed Friday, the 10th day of August, 1900, at 12 o'clock noon, to be the time, and the Borough Council Chambers, Pahiatua, to be the place, for the first meeting of the contributors to the Pahiatua Hospital.

GUTZLAFF Lt.-H.—The erection of a new Lt.-H. will shortly be commenced, and during a certain stage of the work the present lt. (30° 49' N., 122° 10' E.) will be obsc. from W.S.W. ½ W. to W. ⅓ S. When this occurs a F. white lt. is to be exh. from the ern. side of the new Lt.-H. June.
Formosa.
KELUNG HARB.—On 1st April, 1900, a F. lt., showing white from S. 28° E., through S., to S. 3° W.; red from S. 3° W. to S. 9° W., over Arase (Audacious Rks.); and white from S. 9° W., through W., to N. 12° W.; elev. 133 ft., R. 15 miles, was to be exh. from a white Lt.-H., 28 ft. high, in 25° 9¼' N., 121° 44½' E., on Image Pt. (Banjintaibi), W. side of entr. to the harb. Also, a fog siren, sounding 2 blasts, each of 2 secs. dura., with an interval of 4 secs. between, at intervals of 50 secs., was to be est. at the Lt.-H. June.
TAMSUI HARB.—Considerable changes have taken place in the shoal parts extending from both sides of the harb. May.
Notice to Mariners No. 39 of 1900.
SUBMARINE CABLE, MOTUIHI-AUCKLAND.

NOTICE is hereby given that a telegraph-cable has been laid down between the south end of Motuihi Island and a point on the mainland about a mile west of Howick Wharf. Masters of vessels should not anchor where their anchors would be likely to foul the cable.

Settlement of Claim for Compensation under “The Mining Act, 1891.”

IN pursuance of the provisions of the 153rd section of “The Mining Act, 1891,” it is hereby notified that the claims for compensation enumerated in the Schedule hereto, in respect to a Proclamation issued under the hand of His Excellency the Governor and the Public Seal of the Colony on the 29th day of June, 1900, declaring that the Anatoki and Takaka Rivers and Landing Creek, with their tributaries, in the Land District of Nelson, shall be watercourses into which tailings, &c., may be discharged, have been settled by agreement, as provided by the said Act.
