Preserving Books and Forms of Record: (Shortening Time for keeping Registered-letter Receipts and Counterfoils).

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this sixteenth day of July, 1900.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the twelfth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-six, regulations were made under the authority of “The Post Office Act, 1881,” and “The Electric Lines Act, 1884” (hereinafter called “the said Acts”), for the conduct of officers of the Post and Telegraph Department in the Civil Service of the colony, including, inter alia, a regulation prescribing the periods during which certain books and forms of record shall be preserved for reference: And whereas it is expedient to revoke such last-named regulation, and to make other provision in lieu thereof:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon him by the said Acts and of all other powers and authorities in that behalf enabling him, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby revoke the regulation numbered one hundred and thirty-four of the aforesaid regulations, and in lieu thereof doth hereby make the regulation set forth in the Schedule hereto, and doth further order and declare that this Order in Council, and the regulation hereby made, shall have effect on and after the sixteenth day of July, one thousand nine hundred.

SCHEDULE.

Return of Books and Forms to Storekeeper.

  1. The under-mentioned books and forms, when out of use, and after having been kept for the periods set against them, are, at the end of every year, to be returned by Chief Postmasters to the Storekeeper, securely packed in bags weighing not more than 56 lb. Care, however, must be taken that no stores, particularly from sub-offices, are improperly returned as waste.

Order in Council under “The Electrical Motive-power Act, 1896”: Miller’s Flat Electric Dredging Company (Limited).

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this sixteenth day of July, 1900.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section two of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled “The Electrical Motive-power Act, 1896,” it is enacted that, notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained in any other Act, it is thereby declared that from and after the coming into opera-

tion of such Act it shall not be lawful for any local authority to grant to any person any right or concession for the purpose of either generating or using electricity as a motive-power without in each instance the previous consent of the Governor by Order in Council gazetted: And whereas the Miller’s Flat Electric Dredging Company (Limited) (hereinafter called “the said company”) has, in accordance with the hereinbefore partly recited enactment, applied to the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of Tuapeka, duly incorporated under the provisions of “The Counties Act, 1886” (hereinafter called the “said Council”), and being a local authority within the meaning of “The Electrical Motive-power Act, 1896,” for a grant of the right or concession hereinafter set forth: And whereas it appears expedient to give consent to such grant:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by “The Electrical Motive-power Act, 1896,” and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling him in that behalf, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby consent to the grant by the said Council to the said company of the right to erect a certain electric line in the County of Tuapeka, in the Provincial District of Otago, in accordance with the particulars more particularly mentioned and set forth in the Schedule hereunder written;

Subject always to such terms and conditions, regulations, and provisions for securing the safety and welfare of the public as may be agreed upon between the said Council and the said company, and approved in writing by the Electric Telegraph Commissioner.

SCHEDULE.

PARTICULARS.

Proposed Route of Line: Commencing at a point on the claim held by the Golden Run Dredging Company (Limited) opposite Section 36, Block III., Benger Survey District, and running parallel with the main road in a north-westerly direction a distance of 50 chains approximately; thence along the main road on the western side thereof a distance of 100 chains approximately, to a point approximately opposite the junction of the said main road with Section 2, Block III. aforesaid; thence into the claim belonging to the Miller’s Flat Electric Dredging Company (Limited), a distance of 50 chains approximately.

Lands through which Line is to run: Licensed holding in the name of the Golden Run Dredging Company (Limited), 50 chains approximately; main road, 100 chains approximately; licensed holding in the name of the Miller’s Flat Electric Dredging Company (Limited), 50 chains approximately.

Current: Continuous.

Space between Poles: 2½ chains.

Height of Poles above Surface of Ground over Road-crossings: 25 ft.

Height of Poles above Surface of Ground for Remaining Portion of Route: 21 ft.

Material of same: 40 lb. railway rails.

Gauge of Wire: No. 3 B.W.G., copper.

Name of Company: The Miller’s Flat Electric Dredging Company (Limited).

In whose Name License to issue: The Miller’s Flat Electric Dredging Company (Limited).

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS a petition in terms of sections forty-two and forty-three of “The Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act, 1885,” has been presented to His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, from not less than fifty subscribers to the Pahiatua Cottage Hospital, praying that the said hospital may be incorporated as a separate institution under the said Act: And whereas the substance of the said petition was gazetted on the seventh day of June, one thousand nine hundred, and no counter-petition has been received by the Colonial Secretary, or objection lodged with him by the District Board, within one month from the date of such publication:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by
