APPLICATION FOR LICENSE FOR TAIL-RACE.

To the Warden of the Otago Mining District, at Orepuki.

PURSUANT to “The Mining Act, 1898,” the undersigned John Walter Wilson, Miner, Orepuki; Frederick Herman Wilson, Hotelkeeper, Orepuki; Duncan Dundas, Surveyor, Orepuki; Henry Dundas, Surveyor, Invercargill; Alfred Hodgkinson, Surveyor, Invercargill; and Lavington George Roope, Brewer, Invercargill, hereby apply for a license for a tail-race, as specified in the Schedule hereto, the course whereof has been duly marked out for the purpose.

SCHEDULE.

Locality of the Tail-Race, and of its Starting and Terminal Points. Proposed Term of License. Length and Intended Course of Race. Greatest Depth and Width. Estimated Time and Cost of Construction.
The proposed tail-race runs through Sections 13, 12, 11, and 6, Block II., Longwood District; the starting-point being on the north-eastern boundary-line of Section 13, and its terminal point being on Crown lands a short distance west of the western boundary-line of Section 6, and at the upper end of Wilson and Bennett’s race. Forty-two years. Length, about 130 chains; course following close to the creek through said sections, and shown by tracing attached hereto (special tracing for each section). Depth, 20 ft.; width, 33 ft. Twelve months; £1,000.

SCHOOL FOR DEAF-MUTES, SUMNER, NEAR CHRISTCHURCH.

Under the control and supervision of the Education Department.

FOR Deaf Children of sound intellect. The pupils are taught to use and understand ordinary speech. The best age for entrance is between six and seven.

The full charge for board and education is £40 a year, but less is accepted from parents who cannot afford to pay this amount. In case of necessity admission is free.

Parents having dumb children between the ages of four and seven, and other persons desiring information with regard to the school, are invited to apply to
