No. 9. An Act to enable the Council of the City of Wellington to take over certain existing Private Streets and Rights-of-way and to extend Streets.

No. 10. An Act to authorise the Auckland Harbour Board to borrow the Sum of Seventy-five Thousand Pounds for the Equipment of Calliope Dock, and to extinguish Rights of Water-frontage within the Harbour of Auckland, and for other Purposes.

No. 11. An Act to consolidate and amend the Laws affecting the Auckland College and Grammar School.

No. 12. An Act to confer Additional Powers upon the Mayor, Councillors, and Citizens of the City of Wellington, and to provide for other Matters.

An Act to authorise the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of Ohinemuri to contract with Persons or a Company for the Construction, Maintenance, and Working of an Electrical Installation for supplying Electrical Energy for Public and Private Purposes within the County of Ohinemuri.

No. 19. An Act to authorise the Hawera Borough Council, as a Domain Board, to lease a portion of the Rotokare Domain.

No. 20. An Act to enable the Trustees for the Time Being of the Christchurch Domains Trust Fund from Time to Time to pay to the Christchurch Domains Board Sums of Money out of the Capital of the said Trust Fund.

No. 21. An Act to grant Further Borrowing Powers to the Timaru Harbour Board.

No. 22. An Act to confer Additional Powers on the Council of the Borough of Stratford.

No. 23. An Act to empower the Boroughs of Linwood and Woolston severally to borrow Two Thousand Pounds.

No. 24. An Act to authorise the Sale by the Thames Harbour Board of a Small Portion of its Foreshore Endowment at Thames to the Thames Borough Council for the Purposes of a Recreation-ground and a Road.

No. 27. An Act to provide for the Establishment and Management of a High School at Blenheim, or in the Neighbourhood thereof, within the Education District of Marlborough.

No. 28. An Act to empower the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Melrose, a Corporation constituted under the provisions of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” to produce and supply Gas in and for the Borough of Melrose.

Private Acts.

No. 1. An Act to empower the Canterbury College and the Canterbury Agricultural College to pay to George Henry Saxton Moneys in connection with the Robinson Bay Property, in the Province of Canterbury.

No. 2. An Act to authorise the New Zealand Electrical Syndicate (Limited) to break up or cross over Streets, Roads, Rivers, and Bridges, and to place Mains, Service-lines, and Distributing-mains either above or below Ground, and to lay down and place Pipes, Conduits, and Service-pipes, and to erect Pillars, Arches, and Poles, and to make, construct, and do other Works and Things for supplying the respective Boroughs of Melrose, Karori, and Onslow, and the Road District of Seatoun or Portions thereof, with Electrical Energy.

No. 3. An Act enabling and directing the Trustees for the time being of and under certain Deeds of Settlement by one William Walter Cargill, of Sections One, Two, Three, Four, Eight, and Sixty-four, Block Sixteen, Dunedin, to grant Leases providing for the Payment of Valuation to Outgoing Tenants, or Perpetual Renewal.

  1. With reference to the fifth paragraph of my despatch No. 16, of the 25th of February, 1899, I have to point out that no reports of the Attorney-General upon these Acts have been transmitted with your despatch.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, Borough of Balclutha.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Balclutha, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886.”

BOROUGH OF BALCLUTHA.

Proposal to raise a Special Loan of £1,600.

I HEREBY give notice that the result of the poll taken on Monday, the 28th day of May, 1900, on the proposal to borrow £1,600 for acquiring and erecting gasworks, is as follows:—

Number of votes in favour of the proposal, 67; number of votes against the proposal, 33; informal votes, 2: majority in favour of the proposal, 34.

As the majority of votes are in favour of the proposal, I hereby declare the proposal duly carried.

I, John McNeil, of the Borough of Balclutha, in the Provincial District of Otago, Mayor of the said borough, do solemnly and sincerely declare that all proceedings required by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” to be taken in or towards obtaining the sanction of the burgesses of the said borough to the proposal to raise a special loan of £1,600 for the said borough have been duly taken, and that the resolution has been duly carried. And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”

Special Order.

THAT, to secure the repayment of a loan of £1,000 raised under the provisions of “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” and its amendments, this Board do now make and levy a special rate of ⅓d. in the pound upon the rateable capital value of all properties in the Awhea Special Rating District, as appearing in the valuation roll of the Featherston Road District, comprising Section 210, Block IX., Waipawa Survey District (617 acres): Sections 63, 70/1, parts 197/8, Block I.; Sections 194/5, Block II.; Sections 1–5, 105, 107/8, 211, Block IX., Opuaue Survey District: Sections 106, 162, 209, Block X.; Sections 1, 109/110, 112, 114/119, 188, 190/2, Block XIII.; Sections 111, 113, 193, Block XIV., Waipawa Survey District (12,633 acres 2 roods 15 perches); Section 25, Blocks III. and IV., Kaiwaka Survey District (1,985 acres); Section 208, Block IX., Waipawa Survey District (400 acres); Parts 8, 8, 9, 9, 66, 200/1, Kaiwaka Survey District, 4/7, 10, 12, Blocks IV., VIII., and IX.; Sections 190/1, Block XIII., Waipawa Survey District; Sections 10, 26, 27, 38, 63/65, 67/72, 197, 199, 11/16, 20/25, 28/33, 35/37, 203, 196, 17, 18, 19, 99, 187, N.B. 665, Blocks I. and II., Opuaue Survey District (16,368 acres 27 perches). Such rate to be an annually recurring rate for a period of thirty-two years, to secure the repayment of a loan of £1,000 under the Loans to Local Bodies Act and its amendments; or for such period until the said sum of £1,000 is paid off, and to be deemed to be due and be payable at the office of the Board on the 1st days of July and January in each year, the first of such payments to be made on the 1st day of July, 1901.

I hereby certify that the above special order has been made by the Featherston Road Board in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”
