Commissioner's Decisions under Tariff Acts.

IT is hereby notified for public information that the Hon. the Commissioner of Trade and Customs has decided to interpret the Customs and Excise Duties Acts in relation to the under-mentioned articles as follows:—

NOTE.—“Not otherwise enumerated” appears as n.o.e.; “other kinds” as o.k.; “articles and materials suited only for, and to be used solely in, the fabrication of goods in the colony” as a. & m.s. Articles marked thus * are revised decisions.

99/1112. Bottles, wickered, used with sparklets for aerated waters; as glassware 20 per cent.
99/1120. Bloodstones; as precious stones, cut or uncut, and unmounted Free.
99/1169. Braids, mohair, up to 1 in. in breadth; as tailors’ trimmings, braids Free.
99/1169. Braids, mohair, over 1 in. in breadth; as haberdashery n.o.e. 20 per cent.
99/1151. Bromidia; as proprietary medicines 40 per cent.
99/1120. Carnelians, engraved; as precious stones, cut or uncut, and unmounted Free.
99/1267. “Fibrose” patent blind; as furniture n.o.e. 25 per cent.
*99/1119. Filter-bag sheaths for sugar-refining; as parts of machinery n.o.e. 20 per cent.

Maximum temperature in shade 73°, minimum 44°; mean temperature of dew-point, 48°·9; mean humidity, 69. Slight earthquake on 4th, at 7.22 p.m.
