Rural Land in the Taranaki Land District open for Sale or Selection.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural land enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the thirteenth day of June, one thousand nine hundred; and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

Rough pastoral country, covered with forest consisting of tawa, rata, rimu, totara, pukatea, with birch on spurs, and dense undergrowth. Papa formation; well watered. Some of the main gullies are deep cañons. There is a good homestead-site of about 8 acres at junction of Maben and Patupuremu Roads. The heights from flats to ridges vary from 500 ft. to 800 ft. Distance from Hawera, about 16½ miles, via Whareroa, Tangahoe, Roimata, Pukekino, and Patupuremu Roads.

Pastoral country, the hillsides being fair slopes; a little flat up the gully and in the saddle to north-east of Rehu Village Reserve. Covered with forest, consisting of tawa, rata, rimu, kahikatea, pukatea, totara, and dense undergrowth. Papa formation, with sandstone and shell rock; well watered. Altitude of ridges, 700 ft. to 1,000 ft., and from 500 ft. to 600 ft. above valleys. Distant from Hawera, by Whareroa, Tangahoe, Roimata, and Pukekino Roads, about 15½ miles.

Rough pastoral country, varying a good deal in quality; there are small flats in a gully on north-west corner, and in two places along the Patea River. Altitude of ridges, from 700 to 1,000 ft., which are about 400 ft. to 800 ft. above valleys. A small piece of about 4 acres, close to the junction of Maben and Patupuremu Roads, has been included as a homestead-site. The timber comprises rata, tawa, rimu, pukatea, totara, with birch on spurs and dense undergrowth. The formation is papa, sandstone, and shell rock, and is well watered. Distance from Hawera, via Whareroa, Tangahoe, Roimata, Pukekino, and Maben Roads, about sixteen miles.

Rough pastoral country, covered with forest consisting of tawa, rata, rimu, pukatea, totara, with birch on spurs, and dense undergrowth. There are small flats, not very accessible from present roads, at the north-east corner, and on a long point of Patea River; all gullies crossable by stock except one opposite Sub-trig. 1. A homestead-site and yards can, with little trouble, be located in the branch of the Kuraiti Stream northward of road and east of Trig. C, and would be about seventeen miles from Hawera by Whareroa and proposed roads. The formation is papa, sandstone, and shell rock. The altitude is from 700 ft. to 900 ft. above sea-level, the Patea River being about 120 ft. The ridges rise from 300 ft. to 600 ft. above valley.

Rough pastoral country, covered with forest consisting of tawa, rata, rimu, kahikatea, totara, pukatea, with birch on spurs, and dense undergrowth. Papa formation, with sandstone and shell rock; well watered. There is a small flat of about 2 acres alongside the road on Patea River suitable for a homestead-site, distant about 16½ miles from Hawera by Whareroa and proposed roads; also a small flat of about 7 acres on long point of Patea River. The ridges are from 600 ft. to 1,200 ft. above sea-level, and the heights above valleys from 500 ft. to 1,000 ft.
