Bubonic Plague declared an Infectious Disease.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS it is expedient to declare that the disease called or known as the bubonic plague (Pestis bubonica) shall be deemed to be an infectious disease within the meaning of “The Public Health Act, 1876”:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by the said “Public Health Act, 1876,” and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, do hereby proclaim and declare that the disease called or known as the bubonic plague (Pestis bubonica) shall be and be deemed to be an infectious disease within the meaning of the said Act.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly; Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-seventh day of February, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred.

Defining the Middle Line of a Portion of the Kawakawa-Grahamtown Railway (Kawakawa to Block III., Motatau Survey District).

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS a portion of the Kawakawa-Grahamtown Railway, viz., from Kawakawa to Block III., Motatau Survey District (hereinafter termed “the said railway”), is a railway the construction of which is authorised by “The Railways Authorisation Act, 1899”: And whereas it has been determined to construct and maintain a portion of the said railway:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred on me by “The Railways Authorisation Act, 1899,” and by “The Public Works Act, 1894,” and in exercise of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf,
do hereby proclaim and declare that the middle line of the said portion of the said railway shall be as defined and set forth in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
COMMENCING at a point in the Te Wharau Block, which point is also a point on the line of railway as described in a Proclamation dated the 21st June, 1876, and published in the New Zealand Gazette, No. 36, of the 22nd June, 1876: proceeding thence generally in a westerly and south-westerly direction for a distance of about 3 miles 63 chains 92·5 links, and passing in, into, through, or over the following lands—viz., the said Te Wharau Block, Block XII., Kawakawa Survey District; Bay of Islands Coal Company’s leasehold, Ruapekapeka Block, Blocks XVI. and XII.; Tipa-tipa Block No. 628, Blocks XII. and XI.; Taumata-Maukutu Block No. 395, Blocks XI. and XV.; Waipuna Block No. 600, Sections 140, 152, 154, 155, 156, 161, and 162, Block XV.—and terminating at a point on the south-western boundary of Section 162 aforesaid distant about 950 links from its south-western corner: including all adjoining and intervening places, lands, roads, tracks, rivers, streams, and watercourses: all in the aforesaid Kawakawa Survey District; in the manner delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 18802, deposited in the office of the Minister for Public Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington.
