Arrangements for First Elections, &c., Opotiki County.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint
HENRY EDWARD ELLIOTT
to be the person to make up electors’ rolls for the Ridings of Ohiwa, Opotiki, and Waioeka, in the County of Opotiki, as constituted under “The Counties Act, 1886,” and “The Whakatane County Act, 1899”; also to be the Returning Officer to conduct the first elections of members of the Council of the said county; and also to be Clerk of the Opotiki County Council for the purpose of presiding at the first meeting thereof.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, Borough of Pahiatua.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Pahiatua Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886.”

PAHIATUA BOROUGH COUNCIL.
I HEREBY give notice that the result of the poll taken on Tuesday, the 13th day of February, 1900, on the proposal to borrow £5,000 for street-formation, street-improvement, surface-drainage, and the erection of a public pound, is as follows:—
Number of votes in favour of the proposal, 149; number of votes against the proposal, 9; informal votes, 4: majority in favour of the proposal, 140.
As the majority of votes are in favour of the proposal, I now declare it duly carried.

I, Gerard Champion Miller, of Pahiatua, in the Provincial District of Wellington and Colony of New Zealand, Clerk to the Pahiatua Borough Council, do hereby solemnly and sincerely declare that all the proceedings in connection with the proposal to borrow £5,000 for street-formation, street-improvement, surface-drainage, and the erection of a public pound, for which a poll was taken on the 13th day of February, 1900, have been duly taken as required by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” and that the resolution in favour of the proposal has been duly carried.
And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”

BOROUGH OF LINWOOD.
Result of Poll for Recreation-ground Loan.
I HEREBY give public notice that at a poll taken on the 9th day of February, 1900, on the proposal of the Linwood Borough Council to raise a special loan of £1,200 for the purpose of acquiring a recreation ground or grounds, and other the purposes authorised by “The Linwood and Woolston Boroughs Loan Act, 1899,” there were recorded,—
In favour of the proposal, 155 votes; against the proposal, 76 votes.
As the number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal is not less than three-fifths of the votes recorded at the poll, I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

In the matter of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” and “The Linwood and Woolston Boroughs Loan Act, 1899”; and in the matter of a proposal by the Council of the Borough of Linwood to raise, under the provisions of the above-named Acts, by way of special loan, the sum of £1,200 for the purpose of acquiring a recreation ground or grounds, and other the purposes authorised by the said “Linwood and Woolston Boroughs Loan Act, 1899.”
I, Frederick John Kenneth McClane Board, Mayor of the Borough of Linwood, solemnly and sincerely declare that all proceedings required by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” and “The Linwood and Woolston Boroughs Loan Act, 1899,” to be taken in or towards obtaining the sanction of the burgesses to the above-mentioned proposal have been duly taken, and that the proposal has been duly carried; and I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and under and by virtue of “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”

Notice as to Day for closing under “The Shops and Shop assistants Act, 1894.”
WHEREAS the local authorities respectively mentioned in the first column of the Schedule hereto have duly notified to me that the days upon which the shops in their respective districts shall be closed, pursuant to the provisions of “The Shops and Shop-assistants Act, 1894,” are the days set opposite their respective names in the second column of the said Schedule :
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred upon me by the said Act, I, Richard John Seddon, Minister of Labour, do hereby appoint that the said respective days shall be the days upon which all shops within the said respective districts shall be closed.

Revocation of Appointment of Bonding Warehouse.
CUSTOMS.—In exercise of the authority in me for this purpose vested, I, the Commissioner of Trade and Customs, do, by this order under my hand, revoke and annul the appointment of the under-mentioned warehouse for the reception and security of goods entered to be warehoused without payment of duty upon the first entry thereof, namely:—

CUSTOMS.—In exercise of the powers in me for this purpose vested by “The Customs Laws Consolidation Act, 1882,” I, the Commissioner of Trade and Customs, do hereby approve and appoint the under-mentioned warehouse to be a warehouse for the reception of goods under bond, namely,—

A brick building with slate roof, situated in Moray Place, Dunedin, to be known as
TAPPER’S BONDED WAREHOUSE.
