Rural Lands in the Auckland Land District open for Sale or Selection.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the eighteenth day of April, one thousand nine hundred; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

Section 1, undulating forest land, of sandstone formation, and well watered; situated about twenty miles from Hangatiki Railway-station. Section 3, altitude from 900 ft. to 1,900 ft. above sea-level, and comprises broken forest land of papa formation, and well watered; situated seventeen miles by road from Hangatiki Railway-station.

The altitude of these lands above sea-level ranges from 100 ft. to 1,700 ft. Section 2 comprises broken limestone land, covered with forest and well watered; soil, from fair to rich in quality. Section 3, broken to undulating forest land, of limestone and sandstone formation and well watered; soil, fair to rich. Section 4, chiefly limestone hills; good grass country, and well watered. Section 5, chiefly broken forest country, of sandstone formation and well watered; soil, inferior to good. Section 6, all forest country, somewhat broken; partly limestone and partly papa formation, and well watered: the Marakopa River forms a good boundary between this section and Section 2. Section 7, undulating to broken forest land; fair to good soil and well watered; sandstone and limestone formation. These lands are from fifteen to seventeen miles by road from Hangatiki Railway-station.

Section 1, nearly all manuka scrub; soil of sandstone formation; well watered; but soil generally inferior: situated seventeen miles from Hangatiki Railway-station. Section 5, limestone country, and comprises half mixed-forest and half manuka-scrub land; well watered and broken.

Sections 1 and 3, altitude from 1,000 ft. to 1,500 ft. above sea-level, and comprise broken forest land; good soil of limestone formation, and well watered: situated twelve miles from Hangatiki Railway-station. Section 4, about two-thirds broken forest country; good soil of limestone formation, and well watered; balance manuka scrub: about thirteen miles from Hangatiki Railway-station.
