COUNTY OF POHANGINA.—THE SALISBURY SPECIAL RATING DISTRICT.

THE following is the result of a poll taken on Friday, the 27th day of January, 1899, on a proposal of the Pohangina County Council to raise the sum of £3,665, by way of a loan, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” and amendments, for the purpose of forming and metalling roads, and to levy a special rate on the value of the several properties within the above special rating district:—

Number of ratepayers on special roll, 27; number of votes exercisable, 27: Number of ratepayers who voted for the proposal, 15; number of votes recorded for the proposal, 15; number of ratepayers who voted against the proposal, nil; number of votes recorded against the proposal, nil.

A majority of the ratepayers, exercising more than one-half of the total number of votes exercisable, having voted for the proposal, I therefore declare it to be carried.

CASTLEPOINT ROAD BOARD, WAIRARAPA NORTH COUNTY.

THE following is the result of a poll taken on the 19th December, 1898, on a proposal to borrow £300 under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for the purpose of extending the formation of the Mungapurupuru Road from Section 874 to Section 878:—

Number of ratepayers on special roll, 3, representing 10 votes: Number of ratepayers voted for the proposal, 3, exercising 10 votes; number of ratepayers not voting, nil.

There being a majority of voters and votes in favour, I hereby declare the proposal carried.

RESULT of poll of ratepayers of the Dudley Road West Special Rating District, taken 18th January, 1899, upon the following proposal: (1) To form and gravel the remaining portion of the Dudley Road West from Section 5, Block VIII., Egmont, westwards; (2) to borrow for such purpose the sum of £500 under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886”; (3) to strike as security for such loan a special rate of ½d. in the pound; (4) to constitute the “Dudley Road West Special Rating District,” to comprise the following lands—viz., Sections 111, part 115, 117, part 118, 119, 124, 125, 132, 133, 134, 135, Block IV., Egmont; Sections 1, 2, 3, 14, 15, 16, 18, 19, 20, Block VII., Egmont; Sections part 3, part 5, 11 (in two subdivisions), 12, 116, 126 (in two subdivisions), 129, 130, 131, Block VIII., Egmont; Section 1, Block XI., Egmont:—

Total number of ratepayers on special roll, 25; total number of votes exercisable, 29: Total number of votes recorded for the proposal, 16; total number of votes recorded against the proposal, 6; total number of votes not recorded, 7.

I hereby declare the proposal carried.

MOA ROAD BOARD.

RESULT of poll of ratepayers of the Egmont Road South Special Rating District, taken 18th January, 1899, upon the following proposal: (1) To metal the Egmont Road South from the end of the present gravel southwards, the metal to be broken stone, 10 ft. wide, average thickness 9 in.; (2) to borrow for such purpose the sum of £1,000 under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886”; (3) to strike as security for such loan a special rate of 1 7/16d. in the pound; (4) to constitute the “Egmont Road South Special Rating District,” to comprise the following lands—viz., Sections part 70, part 71, part 72, part 73, part 74 (in two subdivisions), part 75, part 85, part 86 (in two subdivisions), part 87, part 116, part 115A, 151A, 114, 115, 128, 129, Block III., Egmont; Sections 4, 5, 6, part 7, part 9, 25, 26, 27, 31, 32, 33, 17, part 117, part 118, 140, part 141, part 142 (in two subdivisions), part 143, part 144, part 145, part 164, Block VII., Egmont:—

Total number of ratepayers on special roll, 27; total number of votes exercisable, 28: Total number of votes recorded for the proposal, 18; total number of votes recorded against the proposal, 1; total number of votes not recorded, 9.

I hereby declare the proposal carried.
