Also all that area in the Town of Ashburton, containing by admeasurement 38 perches, more or less, being part of the Ashburton Borough Endowment, bounded towards the north-east by a line commencing at the north-eastern corner of Town Section No. 1084, and proceeding in a southerly direction along a line bearing S. 3° 13' W., a distance of 141·4 links, to Winter Street; towards the south-east by Winter Street for a distance of 141·4 links; towards the west by a line running parallel to the first-mentioned boundary-line for a distance of 341·4 links, to Peters Street; and towards the north-east by Peters Street: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the said areas are delineated upon the plan marked 4787, deposited in the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, in the Canterbury Land District, and thereon coloured red.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly; Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-eighth day of January, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine.

Land taken for Deviation of Mataimoana Road through University Endowment, Section 1, Block XII., Opaku Survey District.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken, under “The Public Works Act, 1894,” for a certain work, to wit, the deviation of Mataimoana Road through University Endowment, Section 1, Block XII., Opaku:

And whereas a plan has been prepared, and the Minister has recommended the Governor to issue a Proclamation taking the land as required by the said Act:

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by “The Public Works Act, 1894,” and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that, from and after the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the purposes of the deviation of the said road.


SCHEDULE.

The parcel of land mentioned hereunder:—

In the Taranaki Land District; as the said area is delineated upon the plan marked as above stated, deposited in the Head Office of the Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured as above mentioned.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken, under “The Public Works Act, 1894,” for a certain work, to wit, the deviation of Te Arei and Clarke Roads, in the Waitara Survey District:

And whereas the Waitara West Road Board has laid before the Governor the memorial, accompanied by a map, and also the statutory declaration, required by the said Act:

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by “The Public Works Act, 1894,” and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that, from and after the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the purpose of a road deviation.

And whereas the Wanganui County Council has laid before the Governor a memorial, accompanied by a map, and also the statutory declaration required by the said Act:

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by “The Public Works Act, 1894,” and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that, from and after the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the purpose of a public road.
