Land set apart as a Site for a Native Township in the Hawke’s Bay Land District.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by the third section of “The Native Townships Act, 1895,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the parcel of Native land situated in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, and described in the Schedule hereto, shall be and the same is hereby set apart as a site for a Native township, and I do hereby assign the name of “Araroa” to such Native township.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that parcel of land, containing by admeasurement 383 acres, more or less, situate in Block IX., East Cape Survey District, Hawke’s Bay Land District. Bounded by a line commencing at a peg marked K XIII. on the left bank of the Awatere River, and running thence generally in a south-westerly direction along lines the bearings and distances of which are respectively as follows—Due west, 3420 links; S. 53° 15′ W., 1200 links; due west, 1890 links; S. 75° 20′ W., 2364·2 links; S. 57° 30′ W., 453·8 links; S. 45° 30′ W., 572·1 links; S. 71° W., 352·2 links; and S. 82° W., 529·7 links, to a road: thence generally northerly along the east side of the said road along lines bearing N. 19° 13′ W., 207 links; and N. 3° 5′ E., 2654 links; thence along a line bearing due east, 766 links; thence by a line bearing due north, 4750 links, to the sea: thence south-easterly along the sea-coast to the Awatere River: and southerly along the left bank of the Awatere River to the point of commencement: exclusive of Native-school site, containing 3 acres 2 roods 30 perches, and the Kohukohu-paua Block No. 1 and the Kohukohu-paua Block No. 2, 2 acres 1 rood 11 perches and 1 acre 3 roods 29 perches respectively: as shown on the plan deposited in the District Lands and Survey Office, Napier.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly; Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this fourth day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken, under “The Public Works Act, 1894,” for a certain work, to wit, for the purpose of a gravel-pit in Block IV., Ohau 3a No. 2, Section 2, Waitohu Survey District:
And whereas the Horowhenua County Council has laid before the Governor the memorial, accompanied by a map, together with a statutory declaration, required by the said Act:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by “The Public Works Act, 1894,” and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that, from and after the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the purposes of a gravel-pit.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly; Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this sixth day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine.
