Whereas the said (principal) has applied to the
Council for a license for the following vehicle [or engine] :

whereas the Council, as a condition precedent to the granting
of such license, has required the said (principal), with
two sufficient sureties, to enter into this bond, which the said
(principal) has agreed to do : And whereas we, the
said (sureties), have, with the approval of the Coun-
cil, agreed to become such sureties: Now, the condition of
the said bond is that if the said (principal) shall pay
to the Council reasonable compensation for any special
damage which shall come to any road, bridge, ferry, or ford
under the care, control, or management of the Council by
reason of any heavy traffic thereon by the said vehicle [or
engine], this bond shall be void, but otherwise shall remain
in full force and virtue.

Tuapeka County, to wit.
WHEREAS has made application for a license for the
following vehicle [or traction-engine], to be used on roads
within the said county, pursuant to the provisions of By-law
No. 9, that is to say: Description, ; No., ;
horse-power, ; maker, ; width of tires of
wheels, ; number of animals used, ; weight,
unloaded, ; weight, loaded, ; name and place
of abode of owner, : And whereas the issue of such
license has been duly authorised by the Council of the said
county: Now, therefore, I, the County Clerk of the said
county, by the authority and on behalf of the said Council,
do hereby license the said vehicle [or traction-engine] to be
used on roads within the county for the period of one year
from the date hereof and no longer, subject to the said by-
law and to such other by-laws as may from time to time be
in force within the said county.
Given under my hand, at the County Clerk’s office, Law-
rence, this day of , 18 .

This by-law was duly made by the Council of the County
of Tuapeka by special order duly passed and adopted the
21st day of July, 1898, and duly confirmed on the 23rd day
of November, 1898, and ordered to be publicly notified to
come into force on the 2nd day of January, 1899.
The Common Seal of the Corporation of the Chairman,
Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of Tuapeka was
hereunto affixed this 23rd day of November, 1898, in the
presence of—

I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, do hereby approve of so much of
the within by-law as appoints the sums to be paid to the
Tuapeka County Council for the licensing of vehicles.

of shareholders in the above company, held on
the 28th December, 1898, the following resolutions were
passed :—
“It having been proved to the satisfaction of the share-
holders that the company cannot, by reason of its liabilities,
continue its business, the voluntary liquidation of the com-
pany shall proceed without delay.”
“D. McNicoll, of Christchurch, Accountant, be appointed
Liquidator.”

In the matter of McAdam (Limited).

AT an extraordinary general meeting of the above-named
company, duly convened, and held at the company’s
registered office, Dunedin, on the 31st day of December,
1898, the subjoined extraordinary resolutions were duly
passed, that is to say,—
“That it has been proved to the satisfaction of this meet-
ing that the company cannot, by reason of its liabilities,
continue its business, and that it is advisable to wind up the
same, and accordingly that the company be wound up volun-
tarily.”
“That Alexander Bartleman, of Dunedin, be and he is
hereby appointed Liquidator for the purpose of such
winding-up.”
