Section 17, Block XV., Manganui, is situated in the Waimarino Block. The access is from Raetihi, which is about nine miles distant via the Ohura and Middle Roads, which are formed for dray traffic (summer roads) for about four miles; the rest is formed bridle-track, very bad in winter. The section comprises generally hilly broken land, cut up by a steep gorge; there are a few patches of flat land near road, enough for building-site and home paddocks. The soil is of fairly good quality, resting on gravel-and-sandstone formation. The forest is rather heavy, comprising rimu, miro, matai, tawa, &c., with a thick undergrowth of konini, mako, horopito, karamu, akapirau, &c. The section is well watered by small streams and springs. The elevation ranges from about 2,000 ft. to 2,400 ft. above sea-level. The improvements comprise 30 acres felled at £1 10s., £45; 100 acres grassed at £2, £200; fencing 73 chains at 16s. and 8 chains at 10s., £62 8s.; orchard, plantation, &c., £7; slab whare, shingle roof, £12; yards, £5: total, £331 8s.

Section 13, Block XV., Manganui, is situated in the Waimarino Block, and consists of flat and undulating land, well watered. The soil is good, on papa formation. It is covered with forest of a mixed character, containing rimu, matai, tawa, kahikatea, maire, &c., with the usual undergrowth. The section is distant about nine miles from Raetihi Township, four miles being a formed dray-road, four miles a formed bridle-track, and one mile a pack-track. Eighteen acres have been felled and grassed, and there is a whare on the section.
HUNTERVILLE NO. 1 BLOCK.

Section 22, Block XIV., Maungakaretu, is situated in the Hunterville No. 1 Block. The access is from Hunterville,, which is about twenty-nine miles distant, via the Ongo, Turakina Valley, Mangamahoe, Okaka, and Koeka Roads, which are formed for dray traffic for about seventeen miles; the rest is formed bridle-track to within about half a mile of the land, which is not formed. The section comprises, generally speaking, hilly land, with a few small flats with nice valleys. The soil is of good quality, resting on sandstone formation. The forest is light, comprising a few rimus, matai, hinau, rata, but the main portion is light bush, chiefly manuka, konini, &c., with a thick undergrowth of the usual kind. The section is well watered by small streams. The Rangitikei County has a claim against this section of £1 7s. 5d. for rates.
SOMMERVILLE BLOCK.

Section 4, Block IV., Tiriraukawa, is situated about twenty-four miles from Hunterville, fourteen miles being a dray-road, eight miles a bridle-track, and the balance unformed. The probable future outlet when the roads are made will be to Mangaweka, fifteen miles distant. The land is hilly, with occasional flats; it is well watered, and has fair soil on a papa formation. An area of 27 acres is in grass, the balance being covered with mixed forest, consisting of rimu, tawa, &c., with the usual undergrowth.
AWARUA BLOCK.

Section 25, Block XIII., Pukeokahu, is situated in the Awarua Block, on the eastern side of the Moawhango River. The access is from Potaka, which is about fourteen miles distant via the Torere, Rangitikei, and Pukeokahu Roads, which are formed for dray traffic to Moawhango River (a bridge across which is now being built); the rest is formed bridle-track. The section comprises, generally speaking, hilly land; no good building-site near the road; road-frontage steep. The soil is of good quality, resting on papa formation. The forest is rather light, comprising rimu, matai, rata, hinau, rewarewa, &c., with a thick undergrowth of manuka, konini, tutu, horopito, &c. The section is well watered by small streams.

Section 8, Block I., Umutoi, is situated in the Marton No. 2 Block. The access is from Rangiwahia, which is about five miles distant via Kimbolton and Parapara Roads, which are formed for dray traffic for about three miles and a half. The rest is formed bridle-track only. The section comprises, generally speaking, hilly land, with occasional small flats, and has a fair homestead-site. The soil is of good quality, resting on papa-and-sandstone formation. The forest is rather heavy, comprised chiefly of rimu, matai, rata, miro, birch, &c., with a thick undergrowth of konini, makomako, horopito, &c. The section is well watered by small streams. The elevation ranges from about 1,500 ft. to 1,700 ft. above sea-level.
Section 15, Block I, Umutoi, is situated in the Marton No. 2 Block, on Conspicuous Road. The access is from Rangiwahia, which is about seven miles distant; two miles and a half of this is by a formed dray-road, and four miles and a half by formed bridle-track. The section comprises undulating land, with about 50 acres of flat. The soil is of fair quality, resting on papa formation. The forest is heavy on flat and light on ridges, comprising rimu, matai, rata, tawa, birch, with the usual undergrowth. The section is well watered by running streams.

Section 38, Block III., Wairoa, is situated on the Moturoa Road. The access is from Waverley, which is about seven miles distant by a formed dray-road. The section comprises rough, hilly land, with about 20 acres of flat. The soil is of good quality, resting on sandstone formation. The forest is mixed, comprising tawa, rimu, rewarewa, &c., with the usual undergrowth. The section is well watered by small streams. The improvements comprise 110 acres grassed, at £1 15s., £197 10s.; 20 chains of fencing at 12s., £12.
Section 3, Block IV., Omahine, is situated on the Moturoa Road. The access is from Waverley, which is about seven miles and a half distant by a formed dray-road. The section comprises rough, hilly land, with about 10 acres flat. The soil is of good quality, resting on sandstone formation. The forest is mixed, comprising tawa, rimu, rewarewa, &c., with the usual undergrowth. The section is well watered by small streams. The improvements comprise 45 acres grassed, at £1 10s., £67 10s.; 14 chains of fencing at 15s., and 15 chains at 10s., £18.
The Patea County has a claim against these sections of £1 2s. 4d. for rates. This allotment is offered subject to a reduction of area on account of road-deviation.
