Districts constituted under “The Marriage Act, 1880.”

RANFURLY, Governor.
A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in the Governor by “The Marriage Act, 1880,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby abolish the existing marriage district known as the Opotiki District, and do proclaim and declare that the territory heretofore comprised within the said district is hereby divided anew into two marriage districts, the names and boundaries whereof shall be as follow:—
OPOTIKI DISTRICT.
All that area in the Auckland Land District bounded towards the north and north-west generally by the sea from the mouth of the Waiotahi River to Cape Runaway: thence towards the east and south-east generally by a right line to the summit of Hikurangi Mountain; thence by a right line to Kapua Trig. Station; thence by a right line to Arowhana Trig. Station; thence by a right line to Trig. Station No. 139, Arowhana Survey District; thence by a right line to Trig. Station No. 140, and by the last-mentioned line produced to the Motu River; thence by the right bank of the said Motu River to the north-western boundary-line of the Motu Block; thence by the said Motu Block to the Koranga River; thence by the right bank of the said Koranga River to its source; thence by a right line to Maungatapere Trig. Station; and thence by a right line to Maungapohatu Trig. Station: and thence towards the west by a right line to the source of the Waiotahi River; and thence by a line along the middle of the said Waiotahi River to the sea, the place of commencement.
WHAKATANE DISTRICT.
All that area in the Auckland Land District bounded towards the north generally by the sea, from the mouth of the Whakatane River to the mouth of the Waiotahi River: thence towards the east generally by a line along the middle of the latter river to its source; thence by a right line to Maungapohatu Trig. Station; and thence by a right line to Trig. Station No. 93, Ngapakira: thence towards the south by a right line to the mouth of the Huiarau Stream in Waikaremoana: and thence towards the west generally by said Huiarau Stream to its source; thence by a right line to the source of the Whakatane River; and thence by the said Whakatane River to the sea, the place of commencement.
And I hereby declare that this Proclamation shall come into operation on the twenty-fourth day of August, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly; Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-seventh day of July, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine.

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in the Governor by “The Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1875,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby abolish the existing registration district known as the Opotiki District, and do proclaim and declare that the territory heretofore comprised within the said district is hereby divided anew into two registration districts, the names whereof shall be the Opotiki and Whakatane Districts, and the boundaries whereof shall be coterminous with the boundaries of the marriage districts bearing the same names, as are set forth in a Proclamation of even date herewith, made under the provisions of “The Marriage Act, 1880.”
And I hereby declare that this Proclamation shall come into operation on the twenty-fourth day of August, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine.
