Excepting Land from Operation of Section 117 of “The Native Land Court Act, 1894.”

RANFURLY, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this seventeenth day of July, 1899.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section four of “The Native Land Laws Amendment Act, 1895,” it is enacted that the Governor may, by Order in Council, except from the operation of section one hundred and seventeen of “The Native Land Court Act, 1894” (hereinafter called “the said Act”), for a limited period or otherwise, and either generally or for such purposes and subject to such restrictions as shall be in such Order specified, any land, wheresoever situate, which is for the time being subject to the operation of the said section, or any interest therein or right over the same, or may in like manner make such exception in favour exclusively of any lessee or other person who has been bona fide in occupation of and has made improvements on such land, or has paid money to Native owners for lease or purchase thereof, prior to the passing of the said Act: Provided that no Order in Council under the provisions of this section shall take effect until after the expiration of two months from the date of the publication thereof in the Gazette: Provided also that every alienation under the provisions of this section shall be confirmed by the Court in terms of section fifty-three of the said Act:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred by section four of “The Native Land Laws Amendment Act, 1895,” and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby except from the operation of section one hundred and seventeen of “The Native Land Court Act, 1894,” for the purpose of alienation by way of lease, all that block or parcel of land, situate in the Provincial District of Wellington, containing six hundred and forty acres, more or less, being part of the land known as Kaiwhaiki No. 1 Block, and being part of the land comprised in Crown grant dated the twenty-seventh day of July, one thousand eight hundred and seventy, in favour of Kerehana Tahau and others.

Notice of Appointment of Members of a Board of Conciliation for the Westland Industrial District.

RANFURLY, Governor.

WHEREAS at the time appointed for the election of four members of the Board of Conciliation for the Westland Industrial District, to wit, the eighteenth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine, no members were elected: Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by section six of “The Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act Amendment Act, 1895,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, for the purpose of making the prescribed number of members, appoint the following persons, that is to say,—

JAMES BISHOP, of Brunnerton, Mine-manager;
WILLIAM ROBERT KETTLE, of Greymouth, Merchant;
JOSEPH HOLLOWS, of Denniston, Miner; and
HENRY BETTS, Jun., of Black's Point, Coal-carrier,

to be members of the Board of Conciliation for the said industrial district.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this thirteenth day of July, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine.

Trustee for the Okato Cemetery appointed.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the sixth section of “The Cemeteries Act, 1882,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

THOMAS POLE HUGHSON

to be a Trustee, in the place of William Neilson Syme, deceased, to provide for the maintenance and care of the Okato Cemetery, in conjunction with the other persons previously appointed by His Excellency the Governor.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this eleventh day of July, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the sixth section of “The Cemeteries Act, 1882,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

to be Trustees, in the place of James B. Hill, J. S. Lincoln, and Henry Williams, resigned, to provide for the maintenance and care of the Tolago Bay Cemetery, in conjunction with the other persons previously appointed by His Excellency the Governor.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this eleventh day of July, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the sixth section of “The Cemeteries Act, 1882,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

THOMAS MCINDOE and
ANDREW JAMES FARMER

to be Trustees in the place of Edward Gallagher and John Williams, resigned, to provide for the maintenance and care of Te Aroha Cemetery, in conjunction with the other persons previously appointed by warrants under the hand of His Excellency the Governor.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this thirteenth day of July, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine.
