Puni Subdivision.
All that area in the Auckland Land District bounded towards the north by the Parishes of Waiau and Karaka from the eastern boundary of Puni Parish to the south-western angle of Section No. 1 of the Parish of Pukekohe: towards the east generally by the western boundaries of Sections Nos. 2 and 5 and part of the western boundary of Section No. 29 as far as the south-eastern angle of Section No. 14 of the said Parish of Pukekohe; thence by the southern boundary of Section No. 14; and by that boundary produced westerly to the eastern boundary of the township subdivision hereinbefore described; thence by part of its eastern boundary and its northern and western boundaries to its south-western angle; and thence by the north-western boundary of the Pukekohe Hill Subdivision (hereinbefore described) to the middle of the Waikato River, and by a line along the middle of the Waikato River to a point in line with the south-western boundary-line of the Purapura Native Reserve: thence towards the west generally by a right line to and by that boundary-line, and by the western and north-western boundary-lines of that reserve, by the south-eastern, south-western, north-western, and north-eastern boundary-lines of Section No. 2, Puni Parish, by the road forming the south-eastern boundary of Section No. 17, by Sections Nos. 3, 16, 38, and 39, the road forming part of the north-eastern boundary of Section No. 40, by Sections Nos. 36, 34, and 32, Puni Parish, and by part of the north-eastern boundary of the Puni Parish to the southern boundary of Waiau Parish aforesaid.

THE following special order, made by the Hunua Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

HUNUA ROAD DISTRICT.
A SPECIAL ORDER made by the Hunua Road Board on the 4th March, 1899, and confirmed at a Subsequent Meeting on the 1st April, 1899.
RESOLVED, That the Hunua Road Board make a special order to borrow from the Government, under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” the sum of £700 for the purpose of compensation for land required for the new Hunua Main Road, together with the expenses in connection with the alteration of the district’s boundaries, and of raising the loan. The interest and sinking fund for the same to be met and secured by an annual-recurring special rate for twenty-six years of ¹³⁄₁₆d. upon the following properties: namely, Sections 81, 79, 179, 9, 213, 10, 13, 70, 40, 47, 15, 59, 68, 17, 45, 73, 74, 53, 52, 51, 24, 87, 25, 88, 130, 228A, 18, 12, 14, 11, 16, 123, 23, 90, 92, 94, 95, 96, 227, 97, 129, 126, 122, 121, 82, 93, 44, 53, 50, 54, 56, 26, 72, 71, 127, and all the properties on the eastern side of River Road, and recently transferred from the Opaheke Road District into the Hunua Road District; also four parts of Section 52, as recently transferred from the Opaheke North Road District into the Hunua Road District by Order in Council of the 26th January, 1899, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 2nd February, 1899.
I hereby certify that the foregoing special order has been made in accordance with law, and that all the provisions of the Road Boards Act and Local Bodies’ Loans Act of 1886 have been complied with.

RESULT OF POLL for Proposed Loan of £700 for the Purpose of Compensation for Land required for the New Hunua Main Road, and for other Purposes.
Hunua Road District Subdivision.—Proposed Loan of £700.
Result of poll taken on the 15th April, 1899:—
Number of ratepayers on special roll, 58, representing 61 votes: Number of ratepayers voting in favour, 43; number of votes recorded in favour, 44; number of votes recorded against, 2; number of ratepayers not voting, 15; number of votes not recorded, 15.
A majority in number of ratepayers, being entitled to a majority in number of the votes which can be exercised by the whole number of ratepayers, having voted in favour of the proposal, I therefore declare such proposal to be duly carried.

Alterations to the Scale of Fares, Rates, and Charges in Force upon the New Zealand Government Railways.
IN pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling me under “The Public Works Act, 1894,” and any amendment thereof, and also of “The Government Railways Act, 1894,” I, William Hall-Jones, acting for the Minister for Railways, do hereby make the following alterations in the scale of fares, rates, and charges in force on the New Zealand Government railways open for traffic, such alterations to come into force on and after the 18th day of May, 1899:—

Frozen meat consigned to Islington will be charged as follows:—

IN exercise of the power in this behalf conferred upon me by “The Shops and Shop-assistants Act Amendment Act, 1895,” and in accordance with a requisition signed by a three-fifths majority of the shopkeepers in the Borough of Pahiatua, I, Richard John Seddon, Minister of Labour, hereby intimate that from and after the 20th day of May, 1899, all the shops in the said Borough of Pahiatua shall be closed on the evening of Saturday in each week at the hour of 9 of the clock.
