UNDER “THE MINING ACT, 1898.”
APPLICATION FOR A MINING PRIVILEGE IN RESPECT OF WATER.
To the Warden of the Karamea Mining District, at Westport.
TAKE notice that, pursuant to “The Mining Act, 1898,” and regulations made thereunder, I, John Craig McKerrow, of Wellington, gentleman, have this day duly marked out the piece of land described in the Schedule hereto (rough sketch-plan whereof is lodged herewith), and intend to make application for the issue to me of a license in respect thereof for a tail-race, particulars whereof are set forth in the said Schedule. And I hereby declare as follows:—
(a.) That all conditions precedent to the grant of the application have happened or been duly complied with.
(b.) That the grant of the application will not prejudicially affect the rights of any other person.
(c.) That I verily believe I am entitled to the grant of the application.
(d.) That I desire the license to be for a term of twenty-one years, but so nevertheless as to expire on the 31st day of December.

THE SCHEDULE ABOVE REFERRED TO.
Land: Section 13, Karamea, the property of James Scarlett, of Karamea, farmer.
Particulars of mining privilege:—(a.) The approximate point of intake, terminal point, and intended course of the race: Commencing at a point in the northern boundary of Section 12, Karamea, about 6 chains from the north-east boundary of the said section, and terminating in Chasm Creek; westerly. (b.) Its approximate length, and average depth and breadth: About 9 chains; 6 ft. by 6 ft. (c.) The estimated time and cost of its construction: Six months; £400. (d.) The purpose or purposes for which the race is intended to be used: Tail-race, to carry tailings.
The address for service is: Karamea; or, Care of Free and Cottrell, Solicitors, Westport.
The foregoing application was filed in the office of the Mining Registrar at Westport on Tuesday, the 9th day of May, 1899, at 2.35 o’clock in the afternoon.

The foregoing application, and all objections thereto, will be heard by the Warden at the Courthouse, Westport, on Tuesday, the 6th day of June, 1899, at 11 o’clock in the forenoon. Any person desirous of objecting must, at least two days before the day so appointed for hearing, enter his objection, and give notice thereof in the prescribed manner.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is the intention of the above-named company, now in liquidation, to cease carrying on business in New Zealand, and also that the Office or place of business in New Zealand of the new company of the same name (incorporated on the 19th day of December last) is at the office of the undersigned, Bank of New Zealand Buildings, Queen Street, Auckland.
