THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Road Boards Act, 1882,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,” the Board of the Masterton Road District resolves as follows:—

“That, to meet interest and annual charges on a loan of £140 raised under ‘The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886,’ and ‘The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,’ for the purpose of metalling on the Kaka-amu Road, a special rate of 2½d. in the pound be and the same is hereby made upon the rateable value for the time being of the following rateable property, that is to say: Sections 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 28, 30, and 32, Block VI.; Sections 94 and 79, Block IX.; and that portion of Section 9, Block X., lying to the westward of the Kaka-amu Road, and containing 72 acres: all in the Kopuaranga Survey District.

“That the said rate shall be an annually recurring rate for a period of twenty-six years, and payable at the office of the said Board in two equal instalments, on the 1st day of February and the 1st day of August in each and every year, commencing on the 1st day of February, 1900.

Passed by the said Board, this 25th day of February, 1899.

The common seal of the inhabitants of the Masterton Road District was affixed hereto in the presence of—

has ceased to be an Officiating Minister in connection with that religious body. His name has therefore been withdrawn from the list of Officiating Ministers under “The Marriage Act, 1880,” for the year 1899.

I, COLIN McKENZIE GORDON, Registrar of the Supreme Court for the District of Otago and Southland, do hereby notify that an affidavit, a copy of which is hereunder given, by William Henry Fulton, of “W. H. Fulton and Company (Limited),” has been lodged in the Magistrate’s Court at Dunedin, and forwarded to me; and that, unless notice of objection be lodged with me within sixty days of this date, I shall proceed to declare the said company to be dissolved in manner provided by “The Companies Act, 1882.”

Bonus on Mineral Oil produced from Shale obtained in New Zealand.

Colonial Secretary’s Office,
Wellington, 29th October, 1898.

N OTICE is hereby given that a bonus will be paid for the production of mineral oil under the following conditions:—

  1. A bonus of 1s. per gallon (£5,000) will be paid on the first 100,000 gallons of mineral oil produced from shale obtained in the Colony of New Zealand, the oil to be of a quality approved of by Government, and to be sold at a price not exceeding 1s. a gallon at any port of shipment in the colony.

  2. Notice of intention to claim the aforesaid bonus must be given in writing to the Colonial Secretary not later than the 31st December, 1899.

  3. The claim must be made before the 30th June, 1900.

  4. The first claimant who proves to the satisfaction of the Government that he has fulfilled all the conditions to be the recipient of the bonus.

  5. The other conditions—as to quantity, priority, quality, and value—to be fulfilled to the satisfaction of an officer appointed for the purpose by the Government.

Bonuses for Encouragement of New Zealand Hemp (Phormium tenax) Industry.—Notice No. 535.

Wellington, 13th February, 1899.

BONUS No. 1.

A BONUS of £1,750 is offered for a machine or process for dressing New Zealand hemp (Phormium tenax) which shall be an improvement on the machines or processes now in use, and which shall, after trial, be found to materially reduce the cost of production, improve the product, or increase the quantity of dressed fibre.

The following are the conditions:—

  1. All applications for the bonus must be sent addressed to the Hon. the Minister for Agriculture, Wellington, and must reach him not later than the 31st March, 1900. Each application must be accompanied by a description of the machine or process, particularly stating improvements on present machines or processes, and also the cost at which the machine or process can be supplied.

  2. The applicants must be prepared to submit their machines or processes to examination at such time and place as the Government may direct.

  3. The Government shall appoint a committee of three or more experts, to whom all applications shall be submitted. Such committee shall, after perusal, state what machines or processes they deem worthy of consideration, and may inspect the same at any place within the colony; and, having so inspected the whole or any of them, may direct that the whole or any of them be brought for further trial to such place as they may think fit.

The cost of bringing the machines or appliances on to the ground, from within the colony, supplying the necessary shafting, motive power, and buildings, to be defrayed by the Government. If any machine sent from beyond the colony is awarded the bonus or part thereof, then the cost of bringing such machine shall be borne by the Government.
