Special Orders made by the Moa Road Board, County of Taranaki.

THE following special orders, made by the Moa Road Board, are published in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

T. THOMPSON.

MOA ROAD BOARD.

Notice is hereby given that this Board proposes to make the following special order:—

  1. That, to secure the repayment of a loan of £500, raised under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for the purpose of forming and graveling the remaining portion of the Dudley Road West from Section 5, Block VIII., Egmont, westwards,—
  2. A special rate of ½d. in the pound be made and levied over the following lands, which are hereby constituted the Dudley Road West Special Rating District: Sections 111, part 115, 116, 117, part 118, part 119, 124, 125, 132, 133, 134, 135, Block IV., Egmont; Sections 1, 2, 3, 14, 15, 16, 18, 19, 20, Block VII., Egmont; Sections part 3, part 5, 11 (in two subdivisions), 12, 116, 126 (in two subdivisions), 129, 130, 131, Block VIII., Egmont; Section 1, Block XI., Egmont. Such rate to be an annual-recurring rate for twenty-six years, and to be payable in two half-yearly instalments, on the 1st day of January and the 1st day of July in each year.

MOA ROAD BOARD.

Notice is hereby given that this Board proposes to make the following special order:—

  1. That, to secure the repayment of a loan of £1,000, raised under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for the purpose of metalling the Egmont Road South from the end of the present gravel southwards—the metal to be broken stone, 10 ft. wide, average thickness 9 in.,—
  2. A special rate of 1 7/8d. in the pound to be made and levied over the following lands, which are hereby constituted the Egmont Road South Special Rating District: Sections part 70, part 71, part 72, part 73, part 74 (in two subdivisions), part 75, part 85, part 86 (in two subdivisions), part 87, part 116, part 115A, 151A, 114, 115, 128, 129, Block III., Egmont; Sections 4, 5, 6, part 7, part 9, 25, 26, 27, 31, 32, 33, 17, part 117, part 118, 140, part 141, part 142 (in two subdivisions), part 143, part 144, part 145, part 164, Block VII., Egmont. Such rate to be an annual-recurring rate for twenty-six years, and to be payable in two half-yearly instalments, on the 1st day of January and the 1st day of July in each year.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, Borough of Palmerston.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Palmerston, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.”

BOROUGH OF PALMERSTON.

Notice under Section 39 of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.”

Notice is hereby given that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Palmerston South, held in accordance with the above-named Act, on Monday the 6th day of March, 1899, to determine the proposal of the Palmerston Borough Council to borrow the sum of £2,500 under the provisions of “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” the following number of votes were recorded for and against the said proposal respectively:—
Total number of ratepayers on the roll, 187, representing 192 votes: Votes recorded for the proposal, 111; number of ratepayers voting for the proposal, 106; votes recorded against the proposal, 6; number of ratepayers voting against the proposal, 6; informal, 3.
And notice is hereby further given that, whereas a majority in number of the ratepayers voted in favour of the proposal, and the number so voting were entitled to more than one-half in number of the votes which could be exercised by the whole number of ratepayers, I hereby declare the said proposal to be carried.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Oakura Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.”

OAKURA ROAD DISTRICT, TARANAKI.

Whereas a poll of ratepayers in connection with proposal to raise a loan of £600 for expenditure on the Koru and Plymouth Roads was taken on 7th March, 1899, resulting as follows:—
Number of ratepayers in special district, 25, exercising 26 votes: Number of ratepayers who voted, 21, exercising 22 votes; number of votes recorded for proposal, 20; number of votes recorded against proposal, 2:—
I therefore declare the proposal carried.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Wirokino Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1886.”

WIROKINO ROAD DISTRICT.

Result of poll of ratepayers of the Gladstone Special Rating District, taken on the 3rd day of March, 1899, upon the proposal to borrow £1,750, under “The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” for the purpose of acquiring the land for fencing and constructing a road through the said special district:—
Number of ratepayers on the roll, 12; number of votes, 15: Number of ratepayers in favour, 10; number of votes in favour, 13; number of ratepayers against, 2; number of votes against, 2; majority of ratepayers in favour, 8; majority of votes in favour, 11.
A majority of ratepayers, exercising a majority of votes, having voted for the proposal, I hereby declare the same to be carried.

CLIFTON COUNTY.—JUNCTION ROAD LOAN.

Result of poll taken on the 6th day of March, 1899, upon the proposal to borrow £750, under the Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, to metal that portion of the Junction Road from Section 12, Block XVI., Waitara Survey District, to Section 9, Block I., Ngatimaru Survey District:—
Number of ratepayers on special roll, 17, exercising 20 votes: Number of votes recorded in favour of proposal, 16 votes; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 1 vote.
I therefore declare the above proposal to be carried.

Settlement of Claim for Compensation under “The Mining Act, 1891.”

Wellington, 7th March, 1899.

IN pursuance of the provisions of the 153rd section of “The Mining Act, 1891,” it is hereby notified that the claim for compensation enumerated in the Schedule hereto, in respect to a Proclamation issued under the hand of His Excellency the Governor and the Public Seal of the Colony on the 1st day of February, 1897, declaring that the No Town Creek, with its tributaries, in the Provincial District of Nelson, shall be watercourses into which tailings, &c., may be discharged, has been settled by agreement, as provided by the said Act.
