Notice of the Laying-off of Road through Block V., Wainuioru Survey District.
NOTICE is hereby given, by direction of His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, under the authority of section 92 of “The Public Works Act, 1894,” that the road described in the Schedule hereto was, on the 1st October, 1898, duly taken and laid off through the land specified in the said Schedule, under the authority of the Governor of the said colony, by warrant dated the 1st August, 1898.

Notice of Intention to take Land for a Road through Part of Section 3, Block I., Lillburn Survey District.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of “The Public Works Act, 1894,” to execute a certain public work, to wit, the construction of a road through Block I., Lillburn Survey District, and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is further given that the plan of the said road and of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the Post-office at Clifden, and is there open for inspection. And notice is hereby given that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land shall, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister for Public Works, Wellington.

Declaring Contagious Pneumonia a Disease for the Purposes of “The Stock Act, 1893.”—Notice No. 534.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this eighth day of February, 1899.

His Excellency the Governor in Council.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by “The Stock Act, 1893,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that the disease known as contagious pneumonia is a disease for the purposes of “The Stock Act, 1893,” and shall be subject to the regulations made thereunder, and now in force; and it is hereby declared that this Order in Council shall come into force from and after the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette.

Settlement of Claim for Compensation under “The Mining Act, 1891.”

Wellington, 31st January, 1899.
IN pursuance of the provisions of the 153rd section of “The Mining Act, 1891,” it is hereby notified that the claim for compensation enumerated in the Schedule hereto, in respect to a Proclamation issued under the hand of His Excellency the Governor and the Public Seal of the Colony on the 19th day of November, 1898, declaring that Saltwater Creek (or Paroa River), with its tributaries, in the Provincial District of Westland, shall be watercourses into which tailings, &c., may be discharged, has been settled by agreement, as provided by the said Act.

Bonus for the Production of Quicksilver.

NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus of fourpence (4d.) per pound will be paid on the production of the first one hundred thousand pounds weight (100,000lb.) of good marketable retorted quicksilver, free from all impurities, from any mine in New Zealand, on the following conditions, that is to say:—
- That at least one-third of the quantity is produced on or before the 31st March, 1900, and the remaining two-thirds on or before the 31st March, 1901.
- No bonus will be payable until the whole of the one hundred thousand pounds (100,000 lb.) of quicksilver has
