Proclaiming the Taking of a Road through Section 10,
Block III., Makuri Survey District, Pahiatua County.

A P R O C L A M A T I O N.
IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers conferred by
section thirteen of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter
John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, with the consent of the lessee of the land
hereinafter mentioned, and with the consent of the Pahiatua
County Council, being the local authority within whose dis-
trict the said land is situated, do by this notice hereby pro-
claim as a road the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto.

All in the Wellington Land District; as the same is more
particularly delineated on the plan marked as above noted,
deposited in the District Office, Department of Lands and
Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and
thereon coloured as above mentioned.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly;
Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished
Order of Saint Michael and Saint George;
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over
Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its
Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of
the said Colony, at the Government House, at
Wellington, this thirty-first day of January, in
the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and ninety-nine.

New County of Akitio divided into Ridings, &c.

A P R O C L A M A T I O N.
IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities
vested in me by “The Counties Act, 1886,” and “The
Akitio County Act, 1898,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of
Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do
hereby divide the new County of Akitio, as constituted by
the said Acts, into five ridings, to be called the Waihi Riding,
the Rakaunui Riding, the Pongaroa Riding, the Akitio
Riding, and the Mataikona Riding, and declare that the
boundaries thereof shall be those set forth under the names
of the said ridings respectively in the Schedule hereto.
And I do hereby declare that one member shall be elected
for each of the said ridings.
And I do further declare that Thursday, the ninth day
of March, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine,
shall be the day upon which the election of the first Council
of the said County of Akitio shall take place, and that
Thursday, the sixteenth day of March, one thousand eight
hundred and ninety-nine, at twelve o’clock noon, shall be
the time, and the Akitio Road Board Office, Aohanga, shall
be the place, at which the first meeting of the said Council
shall be held.
SCHEDULE.
RIDINGS OF AKITIO COUNTY.
Waihi Riding.
Bounded towards the north-west and north-east by the
north-west and north-east boundaries of Akitio County, as
described in the New Zealand Statutes of 1898, page 372,
from Section No. 14, Block XI., Makuri Survey District, to
Mount Arthur; towards the east generally by Sections
Nos. 212, 191, and 190 of Block VII., by Sections Nos. 189
and 188 of Block XI., and by Section No. 186 of Block X.,
all of Mount Cerberus Survey District, to Mangaone Road;
thence towards the south-west by Mangaone Road and Kai-
tuna Road to Alfredton–Weber Road; thence towards the
south-east by the latter road to Manuhara Road; thence
towards the south generally by that road, the Waihi Valley
Road, Pongaroa Road, Cross Road, and Range Road re-
spectively, and by Section No. 14 of Block XI. of Makuri
Survey District.
Rakaunui Riding.
Bounded towards the north-east generally by Waihi
Riding, hereinbefore described, from the northernmost
corner of Section No. 14, Block XI., Makuri Survey District,
to Pongaroa Road; thence by Pongaroa Road; towards the
south-east generally by the Alfredton–Weber Road to the
Akitio County boundary; and towards the south-west and
north-west by the south-western and north-western bound-
aries of Akitio County, described in the New Zealand
Statutes, 1898, page 372.
Pongaroa Riding.
Bounded towards the north generally by Waihi Riding,
hereinbefore described: towards the east generally by Section
No. 186 of Block X., Mount Cerberus Survey District, by
Section No. 185 of Block III., by Sections Nos. 184, 172, and
154 of Block IV., by Sections Nos. 114 and 115 of Block
VIII., all of Aohanga Survey District, to the Aohanga
River; thence by the left bank of the Aohanga River to the
road which intersects Section No. 116; thence by the north
side of that road to the said Aohanga River; thence by the
left bank of the Aohanga River aforesaid to the mouth of the
Waingongoro Stream; thence by that stream and by the
Mataikona Native Reserve to Section No. 6, Block XI.,
Aohanga Survey District: towards the south-west generally by
Section No. 6 of Block XI., Aohanga Survey District, and by
the road forming the northern boundary of said Section
No. 6 and of Section No. 7; thence by Spur Road to Waio-
waka Road: thence again towards the east by Waiowaka
Road to Section No. 2, Block X., Aohanga Survey District:
thence towards the south by the said Section No. 2, by Sec-
tion No. 1 of the said Block X., and by Section No. 23 (edu-
cational reserve) to Waihoki Road; thence by Waihoki Road
to the south-western boundary of Akitio County, described in
the New Zealand Statutes, 1898, page 372: thence towards
the south-west by the south-western boundary of the said
Akitio County: and towards the north-west by Rakaunui
Riding, hereinbefore described.
Akitio Riding.
Bounded towards the north generally by the northern
boundary of Akitio County, as described in the New Zealand
Statutes, 1898, page 372; towards the south-east by the
ocean; towards the south-west by the Aohanga River; and
towards the west by the Pongaroa and Waihi Ridings,
respectively hereinbefore described.
Mataikona Riding.
Bounded towards the north generally by the Pongaroa and
Akitio Ridings, respectively hereinbefore described; towards
the south-east by the ocean; and towards the south-west
generally by the south-western boundary of Akitio County,
as described in the New Zealand Statutes, 1898, page 372.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
conferred by section one-hundred-and-forty-four of
“The Stamp Act, 1882,” His Excellency the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony,
doth hereby direct that on and after the date of the publica-
tion hereof in the New Zealand Gazette the search-fees pre-
scribed by sections sixteen and fifty-seven of “The Old-age
Pensions Act, 1898,” shall be prepaid in adhesive stamps,
subject to any regulations for the time being in force under
the said Stamp Act.
