Setting apart Reserves under “The Kauri-gum Industry Act, 1898.”

RANFURLY, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twentieth day of December, 1898.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS by “The Kauri-gum Industry Act, 1898” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is enacted that the Governor in Council is authorised under the said Act to set apart any specified area of Crown lands within a kauri-gum district to be kauri-gum reserves under the said Act:

And whereas it is expedient to create and set apart the kauri-gum reserves hereinafter mentioned: Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by the said Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, do hereby set apart the several areas of Crown lands respectively described in the Schedule hereto as kauri-gum reserves, with the names and numbers respectively set over the description of such reserves in the said Schedule.

SCHEDULE.

MANGONUI COUNTY.

  1. Otumaroki Kauri-gum Reserve: About 600 acres. For Parengarenga Settlement.

  2. Hohoura Kauri-gum Reserve: About 1,200 acres. For Hohoura Settlement.

  3. Otaia Kauri-gum Reserve: About 1,000 acres. For Waiharera Settlement.

  4. Puketoetoe Kauri-gum Reserve: About 1,000 acres. For Mangatete Settlement.

  5. Rotoroa Kauri-gum Reserve: About 700 acres. For Awanui Settlement.

  6. Opoe Kauri-gum Reserve: About 1,000 acres. For Kaikino Settlement.

  7. Taipa Kauri-gum Reserve: About 800 acres. For Taipa Settlement.

  8. Hihi Kauri-gum Reserve: About 600 acres. For Oruaiti Settlers.

  9. Whakapaku Kauri-gum Reserve: About 700 acres. For Taimaro Settlers.

  10. Tongonge Kauri-gum Reserve: About 1,024 acres. For Kaitaia Settlement.

  11. Epakauri Kauri-gum Reserve: About 1,600 acres. For Herekino Settlement.

WHANGAROA COUNTY.

  1. Totara Kauri-gum Reserve: About 600 acres. For Totara Settlement.
  2. Takou Kauri-gum Reserve: About 600 acres. For Kaeo Settlement.
  3. Omaunu Kauri-gum Reserve: About 600 acres. For Matawheroia Settlement.

HOKIANGA COUNTY.

  1. Omahuta Kauri-gum Reserve: About 1,000 acres. For Mangamuka Settlement.
  2. Warawara Kauri-gum Reserve: About 800 acres. For Whangape Settlement.
  3. Mangatoa Kauri-gum Reserve: About 1,030 acres. For Punakitere.
  4. Wairau Kauri-gum Reserve: About 460 acres. For Federli Settlement.

BAY OF ISLANDS COUNTY.

  1. Pungaere Kauri-gum Reserve: About 698 acres. For Pungaere Settlement.
  2. Parahirahi Kauri-gum Reserve: About 600 acres. For Kaikohe Settlement.
  3. Hukerenui Kauri-gum Reserve: About 800 acres. For Hukerenui Settlement.
  4. Te Mata Kauri-gum Reserve: About 430 acres. For Puhupupi Settlement.

HOBSON COUNTY.

  1. Kai-iwi Kauri-gum Reserve: About 800 acres. For Opanake Settlement.
  2. Te Kopuru Kauri-gum Reserve: About 363 acres. For Te Kopuru Settlement.
  3. Tatarariki Kauri-gum Reserve: About 482 acres. For Tatarariki Settlement.
  4. Tikinui Kauri-gum Reserve: About 1,000 acres. For Tikinui Settlement.
