IT is hereby notified for public information that the Hon. the Commissioner of Trade and Customs has decided to interpret the Customs and Excise Duties Acts in relation to the under-mentioned articles as follows:—
NOTE.—“Not otherwise enumerated” appears as n.o.e.; “other kinds” as o.k.; “articles and materials suited only for, and to be used solely in, the fabrication of goods in the colony” as a. & m.s. Articles marked thus * are revised decisions.

NOTICE is hereby given that, no person having taken out administration, the Public Trustee has filed in the office of the Supreme Court at Wellington an election to administer the several intestate estates of the persons deceased whose names, residences, and occupations, so far as known, are hereunder respectively set forth, their gross properties being estimated not to exceed £250 in each case.

NOTICE is hereby given that, pursuant to application on that behalf made to me by the Winton Branch of the New Zealand Workers’ Industrial Union of Workmen, registered No. 41, situated at Winton, the registration of that industrial union will be cancelled at the expiration of six weeks from the date hereof unless, within the six weeks specified, proceedings be commenced by a member or other person interested in or having any claim on the funds of the industrial union to set aside such cancellation, and the same is set aside accordingly.

Tenders for Mail-service, Springfield to Kumara.
General Post Office,
Wellington, 6th October, 1898.
SEALED tenders will be received at the Chief Post-office, Christchurch, until Saturday, the 29th October instant, for the conveyance of mails twice weekly each way by four-horse coach between Springfield and Kumara for a period of three years, from the 1st January, 1899, to 31st December, 1901.
The attention of intending tenderers is directed to the terms and conditions of contract printed on the back of the tender forms, which may be procured at the principal post-offices.
No tender will be considered unless made on the printed form.
The contractor whose tender may be accepted must be prepared to carry out the service according to time-tables framed by the department.
