expedient to exchange any of the land comprised in such reserve for other land of equal value, to be dedicated to one or more purposes named in the said Class II., the Governor may, by notice gazetted, declare his intention to make such change, exchange, or dedication, as the case may be, and in such notice declare the manner and terms in which the same is intended to be so made:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” aforesaid, declare my intention to change the specific purpose of the portion of the reserve described in the second column of the Schedule hereto from that named in the first column of the said Schedule to that named in the third column of the said Schedule respectively.

Rural Land in the Auckland Land District open for Sale or Selection.

RANFURLY, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the seventh day of December, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight; and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—UNSURVEYED SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Piako and Rotorua Counties.
ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, situate in Blocks XIV. and XV., Rotorua Survey District, Block I., Horohoro West Survey District, and Blocks I., II., and III., Horohoro Survey District, containing approximately 15,500 acres. Bounded towards the north generally by Sections Nos. 10, 11, 16, 12, and 14, of Block XIII., Rotorua Survey District, by Sections Nos. 7 and 10 of Block XIV. of the same survey district, by the northern boundary of Crown land formerly known as the Okohiriki No. 1D No. 4 Block, and by the south-western and north-western boundaries of Crown land formerly known as the Okohiriki No. 1D No. 6A Block; towards the north-east by the Okohiriki No. 1D No. 6B Block, and Okohiriki No. 1H, Nos. 1 and 2 Blocks; towards the south-east by the Okohiriki No. 1E Block; again towards the north-east by the Okohiriki No. 1E Block aforesaid, and Okohiriki No. 1F and Rotohokahoka Blocks; towards the south by the southern boundaries of Blocks II. and I., Horohoro Survey District, and the southern boundary of Block I., Horohoro West Survey District; and towards the north-west generally by Te Whetu No. 3A, Te Ranga No. 4, Kokako, south portion Whaiti Kuranui No. 1A and Whaiti Kuranui No. 1C Blocks, to the point of commencement.
Description of land: Generally level and undulating land, broken at the eastern and western extremities of the block; covered with mixed forest; situate from two to eight miles from Mamaku Railway-station.
Cash price, 10s. per acre; occupation with right of purchase, 6d. per acre per annum; lease in perpetuity, 4·8d. per acre per annum.
Waikato County.
All that area in the Auckland Land District, situate in the Parish of Whangamarino, containing approximately 2,275 acres. Bounded towards the north by Section No. 399 of the Parish of Whangamarino; towards the east generally by the Great South Road, and by Sections Nos. 192, 430, 431, 432, 434, 386, and 362 of the same parish; towards the south-west by Sections Nos. 317, 316, 314, 313, and 309 of the same parish, and by a road 100 links wide running along the east bank of the Waikato River; and towards the west by Sections Nos. 295, 294, 293, 292, 291, 290, 464, 318, again by 464, 305, and 304, all of the Parish of Whangamarino aforesaid, and by a road 100 links wide running along the east bank of the Waikato River to the point of commencement.
Description of land: Open and swamp land, fronting the Great South Road and the Waikato River; about three miles from Whangamarino Railway-station.
Cash price, 6s. per acre; occupation with right of purchase, 3·6d. per acre per annum; lease in perpetuity, 2·9d. per acre per annum.
Hokianga County.
All that area in the Auckland Land District, situate in Blocks III. and IV., Herekino Survey District, containing by admeasurement 969 acres, more or less. Bounded towards the north by a road 100 links wide running along the shore of Herekino Harbour, and by the Owhata Block; towards the east generally by a road 100 links wide running along the shore of the Puhata Inlet, and by the Rarotonga A2A and A2B Blocks, the Pahia Block, and the Whakakoro Block; and towards the south-west by the Rawhitiroa No. 2 Block and Section No. 17 of Block III., Herekino Survey District, to the point of commencement.
Description of land: About one-fourth forest land of good quality, remainder open; fronting Herekino Harbour, about a mile from the entrance.
Cash price, 10s. per acre; occupation with right of purchase, 6d. per acre per annum; lease in perpetuity, 4·8d. per acre per annum.
Whakatane County.
All that area in the Auckland Land District, situate in the Parish of Matata, containing approximately 2,450 acres. Bounded towards the north-east by Section No. 158 of the Parish of Matata, by a public road, and by Section No. 133 of the same parish; towards the east by Block III., Awa-o-te Atua Survey District, and Block II., Rangitaiki Upper Survey District; towards the south-east, north-west, and south-west by Section No. 21 of the Parish of Matata aforesaid; and again towards the north-west by Small Grazing-run No. 15 to the point of commencement.
Description of land: About 400 acres mixed forest, remainder open and swamp land of medium quality; situated about three miles from Matata.
Cash price, 7s. 6d. per acre; occupation with right of purchase, 4·5d. per acre per annum; lease in perpetuity, 3·6d. per acre per annum.
