Appointment of a President of the Court of Arbitration for the Colony of New Zealand under “The Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1894.”
RANFURLY, Governor.
WHEREAS by “The Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1894,” it is enacted that during the illness or unavoidable absence of the President of the Court of Arbitration the Governor may appoint some fit person, being a Supreme Court Judge, to be and act as President: And whereas his Honour Worley Bassett Edwards, the President of the Court of Arbitration, is unavoidably absent by reason of illness:
Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the authority vested in me by the said Act, do hereby appoint
His Honour JOHN EDWARD DENNISTON,
being a Supreme Court Judge, to be and act as President of the Court of Arbitration during the absence of his Honour Worley Bassett Edwards.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this nineteenth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight.

INSECTS AND FUNGI UNDER “THE VEGETATION DISEASES ACT, 1896.”
PROCLAMATION
By His Excellency the Honourable Sir John Madden, Knight, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Colony of Victoria, and Administrator of the Government of the said Colony, &c., &c., &c.
In pursuance of the provisions contained in “The Vegetation Diseases Act, 1896” (59 Vict., No. 1432), I, the Administrator of the Government of Victoria, by and with the advice of the Executive Council thereof, do by this my Proclamation declare certain insects, named respectively as hereunder, that is to say,—
Mytilaspis citricola (lemon leaf and peel scale) and Chionaspis citri (white scale of orange),—
to be insects within the meaning of the said Act; and a certain fungus, named
Melanose,
to be a fungus within the meaning of the said Act.
Given under my hand and the seal of the colony, at Melbourne, this first day of August, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight, and in the sixty-second year of Her Majesty’s reign.
