Powers delegated to the Alford Forest Domain Board under
"The Public Domains Act, 1881."

RANFURLY, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-second day of August, 1898.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by "The Public Domains Act, 1881," His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council thereof, doth hereby revoke a certain Order in Council, dated the sixteenth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and ninety, making delegation of certain powers in manner as therein appears; and doth, with the like advice and consent, by this present Order, delegate, but only with respect to the piece or parcel of land described in the Schedule hereto, all the powers conferred by the Act aforesaid, except the powers under or conferred by sections five and twelve thereof, to the under-mentioned persons, who shall be known as the Alford Forest Public Domain Board, namely,—

GEORGE GOLDSMITH,
DAVID SYME,
THOMAS EDWARD FAGAN, and
CHARLES JAMES MCWILLIAM

(hereinafter referred to as "the Board"), subject to the stipulations hereinafter contained, that is to say,—

  1. The Board shall meet for the transaction of business on the third Monday in each month, at four o'clock p.m., at the Mount Somers Road Board Office, or at such other time or place as may from time to time be fixed by the Board. The first meeting shall be held on Monday, the nineteenth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight.

  2. Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman or by any two members of the Board, provided that two days' notice of such meeting be given to each member, specifying the business to be transacted at such special meeting; and no other business than that so specified shall be transacted at such meeting.

  3. Any three of the said Board shall form a quorum. Any meeting may be adjourned from time to time.

  4. The members of the Board shall, at their first meeting, and thereafter at an annual meeting to be held on the third Monday in January in every succeeding year thereafter, elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the discussion, and shall have an original as well as a casting vote. The Chairman shall hold office until the election of his successor.

  5. If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the time appointed for holding the same, the members present shall choose some one of their number to be chairman of such meeting.

  6. If, by resignation, death, or incapacity, or otherwise, the office of Chairman shall be or become vacant, the members may at any monthly or special meeting appoint a Chairman.

  7. All questions shall be determined by the majority of votes of the members of the Board present at a meeting.

SCHEDULE.

All that parcel of land in the Land District of Canterbury, containing by admeasurement 14 acres, more or less, being Reserve No. 2738, situate in the Spaxton Survey District. Bounded towards the north by Reserve No. 2737, 230 links; towards the east by the said reserve, 372 links, also by a road-line, 641 links; towards the north-west by a road-line, 1539 links; towards the south-west by a water-race reserve, 25 links wide, 1107 links; and towards the south-east by a line bearing 62° 43', 1017 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the District Survey Office, Christchurch.

Rural Lands in the Auckland Land District open for Sale or Selection.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of "The Land Act, 1892," I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the nineteenth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto; and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of "The Land Act, 1892."

Section 1, about 130 acres mixed forest, balance high fern; one-half ploughable; soil generally good and well watered. Section 2, about 180 acres mixed forest, containing a few totara-trees and ten kauri-trees, balance fern and tea-tree; land well watered. Section 3, broken forest land, well watered. Section 4, about 90 acres forest and 10 acres swamp, balance fern land. Section 5, about 60 acres fair fern land, 100 acres swamp, and 12 acres forest. The above are situated from seven to eleven miles from Huntly Railway-station.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this thirteenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight.
