THE following special order, made by the Mangere Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

SPECIAL ORDER made by the Mangere Road Board on Monday, 1st August, 1898.

THAT By-laws Nos. 2 and 3 be rescinded, and that the following by-law be made by special order:—

No person shall lead, ride, or drive at other than a walking pace any animal, cart, carriage, or other vehicle upon or across the whole or any portion of the said Mangere Bridge.

I certify that the foregoing special order was made by the Mangere Road Board after due notice, being advertised in accordance with the provisions of the Road Boards Act of 1882.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, Borough of Newton.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Newton, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886.”

NEWTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

SIR,—I have the honour to give you notice that at a special meeting of the Newton Borough Council, held on the 27th day of June last, a resolution was carried to authorise the raising of a special loan of £1,400 to provide an extension of the present water-supply for Surrey and Sussex Wards, portions of the above borough, in accordance with section 185 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886”; and such resolution was confirmed at a special meeting held 25th July; and a poll of the ratepayers of the above-mentioned wards was taken on the 10th instant, as provided by section 186 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” and was as follows:—

For the proposal, 141; against the proposal, 0; informal, 1: total, 141.

As the number of votes polled in favour of the proposal (141) exceeds three-fifths of the total number of votes polled for and against the proposal (141), I therefore declare the proposal carried.

I, John Wisdom Shackelford, Mayor of Newton, do solemnly and sincerely declare that all the proceedings required by sections 185 and 186 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” towards obtaining the sanction of the burgesses of Surrey and Sussex Wards, Borough of Newton, for the proposal to raise the special loan of £1,400 above mentioned, have been duly taken, and the resolution in favour of the proposal duly carried; and I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”

Extending Time for First Elections, &c., Hautapu Land-drainage District.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to extend the time for holding the first election of the members of the Board of Trustees of the Hautapu Land-drainage District from Saturday, the 23rd day of July, 1898, to Saturday, the 17th day of September, 1898; and also to extend the time for holding the first meeting of the said trustees from Saturday, the 30th day of July, 1898, to Saturday, the 24th day of September, 1898.

AUCKLAND HARBOUR.—DREDGING AT HOBSON STREET WHARF.

THE Auckland Harbour Board have notified that, as dredging operations are now proceeding at Hobson Street Wharf, Auckland Harbour, all vessels are prohibited from mooring at or unmooring from the said wharf between sunset and sunrise until further notice.

Notice of the Laying-off of a Road through Whawharu and Whakatere Blocks, Waoku Survey District.

NOTICE is hereby given, by direction of His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, under the authority of section 92 of “The Public Works Act, 1894,” that the road described in the Schedule hereto was, on the 4th November, 1896, duly taken and laid off through the land specified in the said Schedule, under the authority of the Governor of the said colony, by a warrant dated the 25th September, 1889.

Notice of the Laying-off of Road through Matemateaonga Block, in Block VI., Omona Survey District.

NOTICE is hereby given, by direction of His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, under the authority of section 92 of “The Public Works Act, 1894,” that the road described in the Schedule hereto was, on the 17th November, 1893, duly taken and laid off through the land specified in the said Schedule, under the authority of the Governor of the said colony, by a warrant dated the 31st July, 1891.
