And notice is also given that it is the intention of the said
Corporation to divert or continue the diversion of the water
of the mill-race known as Saunders's Mill-race, from and at
the point at which it is at present diverted on the said land
intended to be taken, or at some other point on the said land,
as may hereafter be found necessary, by means of and
through the channel or water-race now being on the said
land, or by other works to be constructed in lieu thereof.
And notice is further given that a plan of the said
land and the works so required to be taken has been de-
posited at Mr. Curd's residence, Alford Forest Road, and is
now open for public inspection, and that all persons affected
are required to set forth in writing any well-grounded
objections to the execution of the said works, or the taking
of such land, and to send such writing within forty days
from the 30th day of July, 1898, being the date of the first
publication of this notice, to the Council of the said borough,
at its offices, Baring Square West, Ashburton.
THE SCHEDULE.
Firstly: 3 roods, more or less, being part of the farm
marked 4 on the plan deposited in the Land Registry
Office at Christchurch as deposit Plan No. 243, and of
the land included in certificate of title, Register-book,
Vol. xcviii., folio 21, being in the occupation of one Donald
Williamson, of Ashburton, Farmer; as the same is more
particularly delineated and coloured red on the plan de-
posited as aforesaid, and marked "A"; and on which said
parcel of land is situated a certain channel or water-race
now used by the said Corporation for supplying water to
the inhabitants of the said borough, which commences at a
point on the mill-race known as Saunders's Mill-race, and
marked "B" on the said plan.
Secondly: All riparian rights (if any) which the said
Donald Williamson may have to the uninterrupted flow of
water in the said mill-race, and appurtenant to the said land
or other land in his occupation, which this notice and such
deposited plan purports to infringe or curtail.

WELLINGTON DISTRICT.
In the matter of "The Companies Act, 1882," and its
amendments; and in the matter of the Mokihinui Coal
Company (Limited).
NOTICE is hereby given that by an order of this
Honourable Court, made herein on the 2nd day of
August, 1898, upon the petition of Her Majesty's Solicitor-
General, it was ordered that the voluntary winding-up of
the above-named company be continued, but subject to the
supervision of this Court, and that Thomas John William
Gale, Martin Chapman, Thomas Roskruge, Robert Sloan,
Edward Seagar, John Barton, and James Colvin, the Liqui-
dators appointed for the purposes of the said winding-up,
be and they were thereby removed from their offices of
Liquidators of the said company; and this Court did
thereby appoint Alexander Simpson, of Marton, commis-
sion agent, to be sole Liquidator of the said company in
the place and stead of the said Thomas John William Gale,
Martin Chapman, Thomas Roskruge, Robert Sloan, Edward
Seagar, John Barton, and James Colvin.

THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.
SUBSCRIPTIONS.—The subscription is at the rate of 40s.
per annum, PAYABLE IN ADVANCE. A less period than
three months cannot be subscribed for.
Single copies of the Gazette, 6d. each.
Advertisements are charged at the rate of 6d. per line for
the first insertion and 3d. per line for the second and any
subsequent insertion.
Statements under the Mining Act are uniformly charged
23s.
All advertisements should be written on one side of the
paper, and signatures, &c., should be written in a legible
hand.
The number of insertions required must be written across
the face of the advertisement.
The New Zealand Gazette is published on Thursday even-
ing in each week, and notices for insertion must be received
by the Government Printer before three o'clock of the day
preceding publication.
Communications should be addressed to the Government
Printer, Wellington, to whom post-office money-orders
should be made payable. Cheques should be crossed "Pub-
lic a/c," and exchange added.
Postage- or duty-stamps cannot be received in payment
from any place at which postal notes or post-office orders are
issued.
Prepayment may be demanded in any case. In order to
prevent delay in publication a sufficient remittance should
accompany every advertisement. Any surplus will be
returned with receipted account.
