IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by “The Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1894,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby notify that
ALBERT FRANCIS TALBOT, of Christchurch, carpenter, has been duly elected a member of the Board of Conciliation in and for the Canterbury Industrial District, vice James Chalmers, resigned.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan, Borough of Westport.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Westport, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886.”

SIR,—I have the honour, in compliance with section 184 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” to forward you the following notice:—
The Westport Borough Council proposes to raise a special loan of £3,000 for the extension of the Corporation Gasworks, and under Part IX. of the same the Council published the special loan, held the meeting of burgesses, and took the poll, in accordance with the provisions of the Act, sections 177-183.
The number of burgesses on the roll is 618; the number of votes to which these 618 burgesses are entitled is 748.
The number of burgesses who voted for the proposal is 348, and the number of votes recorded for the proposal is 452.
The number of burgesses who voted against the proposal is 14, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal is 15.
A sufficient number of burgesses, entitled to more than one-half in number of the votes exercisable, being recorded in favour of the proposal, I declare it carried.

I, James Colvin, of the Borough of Westport, in the Colony of New Zealand, Mayor of the said borough, do solemnly and sincerely declare that all proceedings required by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” to be taken in or towards obtaining the sanction of the burgesses of the said borough to the proposal to raise a loan of £3,000 for the said borough have been duly taken, and that the resolution in favour of such proposal has been duly carried. And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”
