Appointing a Trustee for Takapau Public Cemetery.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the sixth section of “The Cemeteries Act, 1882,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

THOMAS HOBSON

to be a Trustee, in the place of Charles Hobson, resigned, to provide for the maintenance and care of the Takapau Public Cemetery, in conjunction with the other persons appointed by a warrant under the hand of His Excellency the Governor on the twenty-eighth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-four.

As witness the hand of his Excellency the Governor, this eleventh day of July, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve, under paragraphs 211 and 213, Volunteer Regulations, 1895, of the formation of the under-mentioned Rifle Volunteer corps in the Wellington District into a battalion under the designation of the “1st Battalion, Wellington Rifle Volunteers,” with headquarters at Wellington, and with effect from the 9th day of July, 1898,—

A Company—Wellington City Rifle Volunteers,
B " Wellington Guards Rifle Volunteers,
C " Kelburne Rifle Volunteers,
D " Civil Service Rifle Volunteers,
E " Wellington Post and Telegraph Rifle Volunteers,
F " College Rifle Volunteers,
G " Zealandia Rifle Volunteers ;

and to appoint the following officers thereto:—

His Excellency the Right Honourable Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, K.C.M.G.,

to be Honorary Colonel—commission to date from the 9th day of July, 1898;

Major ROBERT JOSEPH COLLINS

to command the battalion, and with his former seniority in the New Zealand Volunteer Force.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve, under paragraphs 211 and 213, Volunteer Regulations, 1895, of the formation of the under-mentioned Rifle Volunteer corps in the Wellington district into a battalion, under the designation of the “2nd Battalion, Wellington (West Coast) Rifle Volunteers,” with headquarters at Wanganui, and with effect from the 9th day of July, 1898,—

D " Palmerston North Rifle Volunteers,
E " Manchester Rifle Volunteers,

and to appoint

V.D. Captain JOHN PATON WATT, Wanganui Rifle Volunteers,

to the command of the battalion, with the rank of Major. Commission to date from the 9th day of July, 1898.
