In the matter of “The Companies Act, 1882,” and of the Record Reign Opal-mining Company (Limited).

NOTICE is hereby given that at an extraordinary general meeting of the above company, duly convened, and held at the registered office of the company, Ashburton, on the 13th day of May, 1898, the following extraordinary resolution was duly passed: “Resolved, That it has been proved to the satisfaction of this meeting that the company cannot, by reason of its liabilities, continue its business, and that it is advisable to wind up the same, and accordingly that the company be wound up voluntarily.”

At the same meeting Mr. David Zander, of Ashburton, Accountant, was appointed Liquidator for the purposes of the winding-up.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Registered Office of the Hauraki Peninsula Exploration Gold-mining Company (Limited) has been transferred from Legal Chambers, Queen Street, to Curran Street, Ponsonby, at which latter place the business of the said company will be conducted in future.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CONSTRUCT WATER-RACE FOR IRRIGATION PURPOSES.

Otago Mining District,
20th May, 1898.

To the Warden at Livingstone.

WE hereby give notice that we intend to construct a water-race to divert and use water for irrigation purposes, commencing at a point under a rocky bluff on the North Branch of the Awakino River, 13 chains up stream from its present junction with the South Branch; diverting there five heads; carrying same round the bluff and over the South Branch at a point on the South Branch 12 chains up stream from the present junction—from which point on the South Branch other three heads will be taken—and terminating at Section 5, Block 10, Kurow District.

The length of such race is eight miles or thereabouts, and its intended course is east-north-east, crossing road with five heads opposite north-east corner of T. Davis’s P.R. C5, through Run 2 of 23, Sections 7, 5, 8, and the Mining Reserve opposite Section 9, Block 10, Kurow District; crossing Diggers’ Gully Road at corner of Section 9 with two heads; thence through Sections 7 and 6 to said Section 5, as marked out by us.

The mean depth of such race is 1 ft. 3 in., and the mean breadth 3 ft. where eight heads is carried, 1 ft. deep by 18 in. wide where two heads is carried, and 1 ft. by 2 ft. where five heads is carried; and it is proposed to divert eight Government heads of water in all from the two sources as above.

Cost of construction: £640.

Time required for construction: Twelve months.
