“ (3A.) If, being delivered to the Returning Officer, the
sealed envelope containing the voting-paper is
not delivered at his office before the close of the
poll; or
“ (4A.) If, having been forwarded by post, the sealed
envelope containing the voting-paper is not re-
ceived at the office of the Returning Officer
before the seventh day after the day of election,
or if, from the postmark on the envelope or other-
wise, the Returning Officer is satisfied that it was
not posted until after the day of the election.”

WHEREAS by the two-hundred-and-thirty-fifth section
of “The Land Act, 1892,” it is enacted that the
Governor may from time to time, either by general or parti-
cular description, and whether the same has been surveyed
or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that
the same may be then held under pastoral license, any
Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of
the purposes in the said section mentioned :
Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, Knight, Chief
Justice, in the name and on behalf of His Excellency the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, and as his duly
appointed Deputy, in exercise and pursuance of the powers
and authorities vested in me by the said Act, do hereby
temporarily reserve from sale the lands in the Land Dis-
tricts of Auckland and Canterbury described in the Schedule
hereunder written, for the purposes in the said Schedule
specified at the end of the description of the lands so
intended to be temporarily reserved.
SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND.
ALL that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District,
being the western portion of Section No. 1 of Block I. of
the Village of Mokau, containing by admeasurement 20
perches, more or less. Bounded towards the north by Oha
Street, 125 links; towards the east by other portion of
Section No. 1 of Block I. of the Village of Mokau, 100 links;
towards the south by Section No. 2 of the same block, 125
links; and towards the west by Aria Terrace, 100 links, to
the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages
more or less. For a public cemetery.
CANTERBURY.
All that parcel of land in the Canterbury Land District,
containing by admeasurement 3 acres 1 rood 23 perches,
more or less, being Section No. 3212 in red, Blocks IX. and
XIII., Christchurch Survey District. Bounded towards the
north-west by Rural Section No. 13501, 534·4 links; towards
the north-east by Reserve No. 330, 900 links; towards the
south-east by a public road, 150·9 links; and towards the
south-west by Rural Section No. 1983, 999 links (the above-
described land was formerly part of Reserve No. 330): be
all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is de-
lineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief
Surveyor, Christchurch. For a gravel-pit.

lency the Governor, and as his duly appointed

Rural Land in the Auckland Land District open for Sale or Selection.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-
sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, James Prender-
gast, Knight, Chief Justice, in the name and on behalf of
His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zea-
land, and as his duly appointed Deputy, having received
the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in
the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the
rural land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open
for sale or selection on and after the thirteenth day of
July, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight;
and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule
may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for
cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase
or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land con-
taining or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valu-
able stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I
do hereby also fix the prices at which the said land shall
be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Sche-
dule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be sold,
occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of
“ The Land Act, 1892.”
SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—UNSURVEYED SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Tauranga and Rotorua Counties.
ALL that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District
situate in Blocks VI., VII., X., and XI., Waihi South Survey
District, and Blocks II. and III., Rotoma Survey District,
and containing by admeasurement 8,290 acres, more or less.
Bounded towards the north generally by the Tahunaroa
No. 2 and No. 3A Blocks; towards the east by Small Grazing-
run No. 10B; towards the south by Small Grazing-run No. 9;
and towards the west by Small Grazing-run No. 14 and the
Waitahanui River to the point of commencement.
Description of land: About 1,200 acres forest, remainder
open land, broken; about six miles from Pongakawa Post-
office.
Cash price, 7s. 6d. per acre; occupation with right of
purchase, 4·5d. per acre per annum; lease in perpetuity, 3·6d.
per acre per annum.

lency the Governor, and as his duly appointed
Deputy, this fifth day of May, one thousand
eight hundred and ninety-eight.

Electoral Act, 1893,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of
Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do
hereby appoint
Robinson’s Hall, Kapuka,
to be a polling-place for the Electoral District of Mataura;
and do also appoint
The Schoolhouse, Haldane,
to be a polling-place for the said Electoral District of Ma-
taura in lieu of the house of Mr. Stephen Bailey, Haldane.

this eleventh day of May, one thousand eight
hundred and ninety-eight.

JACOB LEVIEN
to be a Trustee, in the place of Moss Jonas, resigned, to
provide for the maintenance and care of the Timaru
Cemetery, in conjunction with the other persons appointed
by warrant of twenty-second day of October, one thousand
eight hundred and ninety-one.

Chief Justice, for and on behalf of His Excel-
lency the Governor, and as his duly appointed
Deputy, this thirteenth day of May, one thousand
