Changing the Purpose of a Portion of a Reserve in Canterbury.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this ninth day of May, 1898.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the first column of the Schedule hereto was permanently reserved for a cemetery: And whereas the said reserve is for one of the purposes comprised in Class I. of the Schedule to “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” and in the opinion of the Governor it is expedient to change the purpose of a portion of such reserve:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, and in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” doth hereby order and direct that the purpose of the portion of the reserve mentioned in the second column of the Schedule hereto shall be changed from a reserve for a cemetery to that of a reserve for plantation purposes.

Description of Original Reserve. Portion over which the Purpose is changed.

All that parcel of land in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 4 acres, more or less, being Reserve No. 298, situate in the Town of Ashburton. Bounded towards the north-east by Kermode Street, 1000 links; towards the south-east by the Town Belt, 500 links; towards the south-west by Dobson Street, 1000 links; and towards the north-west by Williams Street, 500 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: save and except thereout a street-line situate in the above-described section: as the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the District Survey Office, Christchurch.

Extending Time for Preparation of Burgess Roll, Borough of the City of Auckland.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this ninth day of May, 1898.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS it has been made to appear that certain things required to be done by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1886,” in connection with the making and revision of the burgess lists or rolls of the Borough of the City of Auckland cannot be done by or within the time required by the said Act

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by the said Act, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby extend the time for the doing of the said things in connection with the burgess lists or rolls of the said Borough of the City of Auckland, and doth declare that the times for the doing of such several things shall be those which are specified in the Schedule hereunder.

SCHEDULE.

  1. Burgess list to be made out on or before the 20th May, 1898.

  2. Burgess and defaulters’ list open for inspection, and delivery of objections thereto, until the 4th June, 1898.

  3. Inspection of lists of objections, from the 5th June, 1898, to the 14th June, 1898.

  4. Sitting of Council to determine claims and objections, between the 15th and 29th June, 1898.

  5. Burgess roll to come into force on the 1st August, 1898.

Extension of Time for Preparation of County Rolls, Horowhenua.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this ninth day of May, 1898.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS it has been made to appear that, owing to unavoidable circumstances, the preparation of the rolls for the County of Horowhenua, and the taking of certain steps consequent on such preparation, cannot be made and taken within the times limited by “The Counties Act, 1886,” and it is expedient to extend the said times respectively:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers conferred upon him by the said Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that the several dates mentioned in the Schedule hereto shall be the respective dates for taking the several steps set out in the said Schedule.

SCHEDULE.

  1. For preparing the rolls for ridings within the County of Horowhenua: Until the 22nd June, 1898.

  2. Time for which such rolls shall be open for inspection: From the 27th June, 1898, to the 15th July, 1898.

  3. Time for appeals against the said rolls: Until the 31st July, 1898.

  4. Revision Courts may sit for hearing applications with reference to the said rolls, and adjourn: Until the 15th August, 1898.

  5. Time when the said rolls, having been duly corrected and signed, shall come into force: On the 16th August, 1898.

Alteration of Regulations under “The Government Valuation of Land Act, 1896.”

At the Government House, at Wellington, this ninth day of May, 1898.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of all powers and authorities vested in him by “The Government Valuation of Land Act, 1896,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby alter the regulations under the said Act, made by Order in Council dated the fifteenth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight, to the following extent: By striking out the word “Year” in the second lines of the headings of forms numbered eight and nine in the Schedule to the said regulations, and inserting in each case, in place of the said word “Year,” the word “Period.”
