borne by any local authority or authorities: And whereas such Commissioner did report to the Governor, after due inquiry, his opinion as to the matters respecting which he was appointed to report:

And whereas the Governor is of opinion that the work should be done:

Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, Knight, Chief Justice, in the name and on behalf of His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, and as his duly appointed Deputy, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, do hereby authorise the Ngaruawahia Town Board to construct the said work; and I do hereby declare that the cost of constructing the said work shall be borne in the following proportions: i.e., by the Raglan County Council, fifty per centum, by the Ngaruawahia Town Board, thirty per centum, Waipa County Council, twenty per centum, of half the cost of the work.


SCHEDULE.

The bridge over the Waipa River, from a place opposite the northern end of Herschel Street, in the Town of Newcastle (Ngaruawahia), as the site of the said bridge is delineated upon the plan marked S.G. 27230, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon marked A, B.

As witness the hand of Sir James Prendergast, Knight, Chief Justice, for and on behalf of His Excellency the Governor, and as his duly appointed Deputy, this twenty-fifth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight.

WHEREAS by a Warrant made under “The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” dated the first day of April, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the seventh day of the same month, it is notified, amongst other things, that native pigeon may be taken or killed in the Marlborough District from the twenty-fourth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight, until the thirty-first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight, both days inclusive: And whereas it is expedient to alter the said dates as hereinafter mentioned:

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers vested in me by the aforesaid “Animals Protection Act, 1880,” do hereby declare that native pigeon may be taken or killed in the Marlborough District from the second day of May, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight, until the thirty-first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight.

As witness the hand of his Excellency the Governor, this twenty-seventh day of April, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight.

to be the Returning Officer to conduct the first election of Trustees of the Ngaroto Land-drainage District; also to appoint Wednesday, the 18th day of May, 1898, to be the day, and the County Council Chamber, Ohaupo, to be the place, for holding the said election; also to appoint Wednesday, the 25th day of May, 1898, at 12 o’clock noon, to be the time, and the County Council Chamber, Ohaupo, to be the place, at which the first meeting of Trustees of the said drainage district shall be held.
