Resuming Land held under Lease in Perpetuity for the Purposes of a Road.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by section one hundred and twenty-five of “The Land Act, 1892” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor in Council may, by Proclamation, resume possession of any land leased under Part III. of the said Act which in his opinion is required for any public purpose:
And whereas the land described in the Schedule hereto forms part of lands which are held on perpetual lease from Her Majesty the Queen under Part III. of the said Act, dated the seventeenth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-three: And whereas in the opinion of the Governor the land described in the Schedule hereto is required for a public purpose, that is to say, for the purposes of a public road or highway:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section one hundred and twenty-five of “The Land Act, 1892,” and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in that behalf, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, do hereby proclaim and declare that I hereby resume possession of the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto for the public purpose hereinbefore mentioned, the same being part of the lands as held under lease as aforesaid; and do also hereby proclaim and declare that this Proclamation shall take effect on the thirtieth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight.

All in the Canterbury Land District; as the same are delineated upon the plan marked as above-mentioned, deposited in the District Office of the Lands and Survey Department, at Christchurch, and thereon coloured as above stated.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly; Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this eighteenth day of April, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-eight.

A PROCLAMATION.
BY virtue and in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the twenty-fifth section of “The Reserves and Crown Lands Disposal and Enabling Act, 1896,” and of every other power and authority enabling me in that behalf, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the lessee of the section of land situated in the Provincial District of Otago, and enumerated in the Schedule hereto, may acquire the freehold of the said section upon payment of the capital value placed upon the land for the purposes of the lease.
ERRATA.—In the third line of the Schedule to the Warrant of 18th March, 1898, published in New Zealand Gazette, No. 20, of the 24th March, page 503, “Amending the Area of a Reserve in the Wellington Land District,” for “Section No. 352, Block X., Castlepoint Survey District,” read “Section No. 852, Block X., Castlepoint Survey District.” Also, in New Zealand Gazette, No. 28, of 21st April, 1898, page 658, “Clerk of Court appointed,” for “Levin” read “Foxton.”
