This section is situated in the Hunterville No. III. Farm-homestead Association Block, and consists of broken land, well watered. The soil is fair, on a papa formation, and is covered with forest of a mixed character, containing rimu, rata, tawa, &c., the undergrowth being of the ordinary description. It is distant about twenty-three miles from Hunterville, from which place it is approached for fifteen miles and a half by a dray-road, five miles by a bridle-track, and the remainder by a rough pack-track.

Section 3, Block III., Makotuku, is situated in the Waimarino Block, on the Makotuku Valley Road, and consists of flat land, watered by the Makara Stream. The soil is fair, on a sandstone formation, and is covered with forest of a mixed character, containing rimu, matai, miro, tawa, and rewarewa, the undergrowth being of the ordinary description. The section is distant about three miles and a half from Raetihi Township by a dray-road.

Section 6, Block II., Makotuku, is also situated in the Waimarino Block, on the Otautoho Road, and consists of undulating land, partly level, and well watered. The soil is good, on a shingle and papa formation, and is covered with forest of a mixed character, containing rimu, matai, maire, &c., the undergrowth being of the ordinary description. The section is distant about three miles and a half from Raetihi by a good dray-road.

Section 3, Block XV., Manganui, is situated in the Waimarino Block, on the Middle Road, and consists of about equal portions of hilly and flat land, the hilly portion being mostly away from the frontage. The soil is fair, on a papa formation, and is covered with forest of a mixed character, containing tawa, rimu, matai, miro, kahikatea, rewarewa, kotukutuku, and maire, the undergrowth being of the ordinary description. The section is distant about six miles from Raetihi Township, five miles being a formed dray-road, and one mile a horse-road.

Section 4, Block XV., Manganui, is also situated in the Waimarino Block, on the Middle Road, and comprises good land, watered by small streams. The soil is fair, on a papa formation, and is covered with forest of a mixed character, containing tawa, rimu, matai, miro, kahikatea, rewarewa, kotukutuku, and maire, the undergrowth being of the ordinary description. The section is distant about six miles and a half from Raetihi Township, by five miles of dray-road and one mile and a half of horse-road.

Section 15 is weighted with £45 for improvements.

Section 2, Block X., Makotuku, is situated in the Wanganui United West Block, and consists of hilly land, with a few small flats on the Mangaetoroa Stream. The soil is good, on a shell-rock and papa formation, and is covered with forest of a mixed character, containing tawa, rimu, matai, miro, maire, rewarewa, hinau, and kotukutuku, &c., the undergrowth being of karamu, rangiora, supplejack, &c. The section is distant about five miles from Raetihi Township, three miles of the distance being a dray-road, and the remainder a road which is surveyed only.

Section 4, Block X., Makotuku, is also situated in the Wanganui United West Block, on the Hukaroa Road, and consists of hilly land. The soil is good, on a shell-rock and papa formation, and is covered with forest of a mixed character, containing matai, tawa, rimu, miro, maire, rewarewa, hinau, kotukutuku, &c., the undergrowth being of karamu, rangiora, supplejack, &c. The section is distant about three miles from Raetihi Township, one mile of the distance being a horse-road, and the remainder a road which is surveyed only.

Section 15, Block VI., Makotuku, is situated in the Wanganui United West Block, on the Hukaroa Road, and consists of undulating land, with a small portion of flat. It is well watered. The soil is good, on a papa formation, and, with the exception of 18 acres in grass, the land is covered with forest of a mixed character, containing rimu, matai, rata, &c., the undergrowth being of the ordinary description. The section is on the main road from Pipiriki to Taupo, and adjoins Raetihi Township.

Rural Lands in Auckland District open for Sale or Selection.

District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, 24th August, 1897.

THE under-mentioned Crown lands will be open for sale or selection, in terms of section 136 of “The Land Act, 1892,” either for cash, for occupation with right of purchase, or for lease in perpetuity, at the option of the selector, on and after Wednesday, the 13th October, 1897.

If more than one application be received on the same day, then priority of selection shall be decided by ballot on the following day, at 11 a.m.
