but only with respect to the pieces or parcels of land
described in the Schedule hereto, all the powers conferred
by the Act aforesaid, except the powers under or conferred
by sections five and twelve thereof, to the under-mentioned
persons, who shall be known as the Spreydon and Halswell
Domain Board, namely,—

WILLIAM HENDERSON,
JOHN FERGUSON,
SAMUEL GARFORTH,
JOHN MILN, and
CHARLES LEWIS

(hereinafter referred to as "the Board"), subject to the
stipulations hereinafter contained, that is to say,—

  1. The Board shall meet for the transaction of business on
    the fourth Wednesday in each month, at half-past twelve
    o'clock p.m., at the office of the Canterbury Saleyards Com-
    pany, Addington, or at such other time or place as may from
    time to time be fixed by the Board. The first meeting shall
    be held on Wednesday, the twenty-second day of September,
    one thousand eight hundred and ninety-seven.

  2. Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman or
    by any two members of the Board, provided that two days'
    notice of such meeting be given to each member, specifying
    the business to be transacted at such special meeting; and
    no other business than that so specified shall be transacted
    at such meeting.

  3. Any three of the said Board shall form a quorum. Any
    meeting may be adjourned from time to time.

  4. The members of the Board shall, at their first meeting,
    and thereafter at an annual meeting to be held on the fourth
    Wednesday in January in every succeeding year thereafter,
    elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the
    discussion, and shall have an original as well as a casting
    vote. The Chairman shall hold office until the election of
    his successor.

  5. If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the
    time appointed for holding the same, the members present
    shall choose some one of their number to be chairman of
    such meeting.

  6. If, by resignation, death, or incapacity, or otherwise,
    the office of Chairman shall be or become vacant, the mem-
    bers may at any monthly or special meeting appoint a
    Chairman.

  7. All questions shall be determined by the majority of
    votes of the members of the Board present at a meeting.

SCHEDULE.

All that parcel of land in the Canterbury Land District,
containing by admeasurement 20 acres, more or less, being
Reserve No. 110, Christchurch Survey District. Bounded
towards the north-west by the Lower Lincoln Road;
towards the north-east by Section No. 379; and towards the
south by Section No. 1072 and Reserve No. 128.

Declaring Part of the Apiti-Norsewood (Forks) Road,
Mangōira-Coal Creek Block, in the Apiti Survey District,
to be a County Road.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this sixth day
of September, 1897.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him
by "The Public Works Act, 1894," and of all other
powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the
said colony, doth hereby order that the portion of road
known as the Apiti-Norsewood (Forks) Road described in
the Schedule below, and which was made by the Governor
under the powers contained in "The Public Works Act,
1882," and has hitherto been a Government road, shall, on
and after the date of this Order in Council, become a county
road.

SCHEDULE.

Portion of the Apiti-Norsewood (Forks) Road running
through the Mangōira-Coal Creek Block.

All that area in the Wellington Land District, containing
by admeasurement 29 acres 3 roods 10 perches, more or
less, situated in the Apiti Survey District, being a road not
less than one chain in width, the centre-line of which com-
mences at a road traverse-peg marked XLIV., 7790 links south
and 37332·4 links east of Peep-o'-Day Trig. Station; and
proceeding thence generally in a southerly and easterly
direction to road traverse-peg marked XLIII., situated 139988·2
links north and 193306·2 links east of Pohangina Trig.

Station, a distance of 29749·4 links from the point of
starting, and passing between Sections Nos. 12, 24, 30, 33,
34, and 32, and 2, 3, 35, 36, and 40, Block XII., Apiti Survey
District: all in the Wellington Land District: as the said
road is delineated upon the plan marked S.G. 21034, de-
posited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey,
at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon
coloured brown.

Land brought within the Jurisdiction of the Native Land
Court.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this sixth day
of September, 1897.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS the ownership of the lands mentioned in
the Schedule hereto requires to be ascertained and
determined, and it is also necessary to determine the rela-
tive shares or interests of the Native owners therein:

And whereas it is expedient that the said several matters
should be brought within the jurisdiction of the Native
Land Court in order that the same may be effectually
decided and dealt with:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the
Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
powers and authorities conferred upon him by "The Native
Land Court Act, 1894," and acting by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony,
doth hereby order and declare that the investigation and
determination of the ownership of the said lands, and of the
relative shares or interests therein, and the determination
of any matter or question which may arise in relation to the
premises, or which it shall be necessary to determine for
the purpose aforesaid, shall be and the same are hereby
brought within the jurisdiction of the Native Land Court
established under the said Act.

And it is hereby further declared that this Order shall
take effect on and after the eleventh day of September, one
thousand eight hundred and ninety-seven.

SCHEDULE.

The parcels of land, being portions of the Mokau Reserves,
known as—

  1. Te Kauri or Hingarangi Reserve, otherwise Section 3,
    Block I., Awakino Survey District, containing 147 acres.

  2. Te Waipuna Reserve, otherwise Section 7, Block I.,
    Awakino Survey District, containing 175 acres 1 rood
    5 perches.

  3. Tokowhaiti or Purapura Reserve, otherwise Section 10,
    Block VII., Awakino North Survey District, containing
    884 acres.

  4. Te Mahoe or Tawari Reserve, otherwise Section 12,
    Block I., Awakino Survey District, containing 76 acres.
