Crown Lands in Otago open for Selection on Lease in Perpetuity.

THE under-mentioned Crown lands will be open for
application under lease in perpetuity, at this office,
on Wednesday, the 15th day of September, 1897, under the
provisions of “The Land Act, 1892,” and “The Land for
Settlements Act, 1894,” and its amendments.

Open, level, and gently-sloping ground, on old alluvial and
limestone formation; soil good, wholly agricultural; water
within 20 chains, and will probably be obtained by sinking.
Accessible by formed roads. One mile to Duntroon Town-
ship and Railway-station. Altitude, about 490 ft. Valua-
tion for improvements, payable with application or imme-
diately the result of the ballot is declared, £4 10s.

Open, gently-sloping ground, on limestone formation; soil
good, agricultural. Situated from one mile and a quarter to
one mile and a half from Duntroon. Valuation for improve-
ments, payable with application or immediately the result
of the ballot is declared, £42 15s. 6d. Sections 11, 12, and
14 are grouped, and offered as one allotment.

Level, and mostly shingly land, between main Oamaru-
Duntroon Road and Waitaki River bed, intersected by
Oamaru-Duntroon Railway. Situated four miles and a half
from Duntroon, and adjacent to Borton's Railway-siding.
Valuation for improvements, payable with application or
immediately the result of the ballot is declared, £82 16s.

NOTE.—The successful applicant for this allotment will
acquire the adjoining Crown lands, Section 32, Block III.,
Awamoko District, containing 63 acres 3 roods 22 perches,
on lease in perpetuity, at an annual rental of £6 7s. 10d.

Level land, part shingly, lying between Oamaru-Duntroon
Railway and Waitaki River, adjacent to Black Point Rail-
way-siding, and two miles and three-quarters from George-
town Post-office. Valuation for improvements, payable

declared, £41 6s.

Level land, west end shingly, east half good; water can
be obtained by sinking. Altitude, about 300 ft. One mile
and three-quarters to Uxbridge Railway-siding, and two

the result of the ballot is declared, £7.

Village-homestead Allotment for Selection on Lease in Perpetuity.

NOTICE is hereby given that the under-mentioned
village-homestead allotment will be open for selection
on lease in perpetuity at this office on and after Wednesday,
1st September, 1897.

This land is covered with bush of no commercial value.
Soil good. The distance from Waikawa is about two miles.
Limit of holding in this village, 50 acres. This section is
burdened with £26 valuation for improvements, consisting
of—hut, £5; clearing and grassing, £16; fencing, £5.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

  1. The land enumerated above is first-class land, and is a
    village-homestead allotment, open for selection on lease in
    perpetuity under the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892”
    (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”).

  2. The day on which the land shall be open for selection
    shall be Wednesday, the 1st day of September, 1897.

  3. The rental stated above shall be the price at which the
    land shall be open for selection.

  4. Applications for a lease shall be made in manner as pro-
    vided in Part I. of the said Act, and all such applications
    shall be made to the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Inver-
    cargill; and a lease will be issued in accordance with the
    provisions of Part I. aforesaid.

  5. Each applicant shall state his or her residence, occupa-
    tion, and condition in life (namely, whether married or
    single), and will be required to make the declaration pre-
    scribed in Schedule C of the said Act.

  6. The successful applicant shall pay the first half-year's
    rent, together with the lease and registration-fee, imme-
    diately the application has been approved or declared suc-
    cessful at the ballot. The next payment will become due on
    the 1st July, 1898.

  7. All rents must be paid half-yearly, in advance, on the
    1st days of January and July in each year, as provided in
    section 157 of the said Act; and the first half-year's rent is
    payable as before provided.

  8. Improvements and residence on the land comprised in
    the lease shall be as provided in Part III. of the said Act.
    The provisions of section 144, and all other provisions of the
    said Act with respect to substantial improvements, shall
    apply accordingly to the lessee under these regulations. The
    provisions of section 141, and all other provisions of the said
    Act in respect of compulsory residence, shall apply accord-
    ingly to the lessee under these regulations.

  9. The lessee shall not subdivide, sublet, or transfer the
    land held by him under these regulations, except under and
    subject to the provisions of Part I. of the said Act.

  10. The lessee shall hold the allotment for his or her
    sole use and benefit, and not for the use or benefit of any
    other person whomsoever. No married woman shall be
    eligible as a selector; but this provision shall not apply to
    any married woman who may become a transferee under
    a will or by virtue of an intestacy.

  11. All the provisions of the said Act, so far as applicable,
    shall extend and apply to the land affected by these regula-
    tions, and to the applications and leases to be made and
    issued thereunder, and generally to the interests created,
    and the persons whose rights, liabilities, or interests are
    thereby affected; and the mention of any particular pro-
    vision of the said Act shall not be deemed to exclude any
    other provision of the said Act applicable to the particular
    case.

NOTICE is hereby given that the under-mentioned kauri
timber, standing upon Crown land in Block VIII.,
Tutamoe Survey District, in the Hokianga County, about
five miles from Mangakahia Post-office, and at junction of
Takitu and Opouteke Streams, will be offered for sale by
public auction, at this office, on Friday, the 17th day of
September, 1897, at 11 o'clock a.m.:—

77 kauri-trees, containing about 200,000 sup. feet. Upset
price, £75.

Conditions of Sale.—One-half the purchase-money to be
paid in cash or by marked cheque on the fall of the hammer;
the balance within three months. Timber to be removed
within one year from date of sale.
