Appointing District Valuers under “The Government Valuation of Land Act, 1896.”

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-third day of August, 1897.
Present:
His Excellency the Governor in Council.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in him by “The Government Valuation of Land Act, 1896,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that each of the several persons named in the Schedule hereto shall be and is hereby appointed to be a District Valuer under the said Act for the district set opposite the name of such person in such Schedule, and who shall hold office in such district under and subject to the terms of the said Act.

Notifying Land in Wellington for Sale by Public Auction.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one hundred and thirteenth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, James Prendergast, the Administrator of the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint Thursday, the twenty-first day of October, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-seven, as the time at which the land enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be sold by public auction; and I do hereby fix the price at which the said land shall be sold as that mentioned in the said Schedule hereto opposite the description of such land.

This section is situated about three miles and half from Eketahuna, and is approached by a metalled road. An area of about one and a half acres of the section is level, and the soil is good, on a sandstone formation. The timber consists chiefly of rimu, tawa, &c., and a mixed undergrowth.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Administrator of the Government, this sixth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-seven.

Notice of Intention to change the Purpose of a Reserve in Wellington Land District.

WHEREAS by “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” it is amongst other things enacted that the Governor may declare his intention to make, change, exchange, or alter the dedication of any public reserve now or hereafter vested in Her Majesty or the Governor for any of the purposes named in Class II. of the Schedule to the said Act, whether the same be granted or not; and in the case of any reserve made under the authority of section one hundred and forty-four of “The Land Act, 1877,” if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be expedient to change the purpose of such reserve or any part thereof from the purpose or presumed purpose for which it was set apart to any other purpose, or if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be expedient to exchange any of the land comprised in such reserve for other land of equal value, to be dedicated to one or more purposes named in the said Class II., the Governor may, by notice gazetted, make such change, exchange, or dedication, as the case may be, and in such notice declare the manner and terms in which the same is intended to be so made:
Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, the Administrator of the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” aforesaid, declare my intention to change the specific purpose of the reserve described in the first column of the Schedule hereto from that named to the purpose named in the second column of the said Schedule respectively.

Rural Land in the Auckland Land District open for Sale or Selection.
RANFURLY, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one hundred and thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the twentieth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-seven; and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”
