Order in Council defining Special Districts under "The
Government Valuation of Land Act, 1896."

RANFURLY, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-third
day of August, 1897.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
vested in him by "The Government Valuation of Land
Act, 1896," His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and
declare that the several portions of the colony the boundaries
of which are defined in the second column of the Schedule
hereto shall be special districts for the purposes of the said
Act, and that the names of such special districts shall be
those in the first column of the Schedule hereto set opposite
the several definitions of boundaries.

Bounded on the north by West Taupo and
East Taupo Counties; on the east by Hawke's
Bay and Waipawa Counties; on the south
generally by Oroua and Manawatu Counties,
and the sea from the mouth of the Rangi-
tikei River to the mouth of the Wanganui
River; on the west by Waitotara and Strat-
ford Counties. Comprising the Wanganui,
Rangitikei, Kiwitea, and Pohangina Coun-
ties, and the Boroughs of Wanganui and
Marton.

Bounded on the north generally by
Rangitikei, Kiwitea, and Pohangina Coun-
ties; on the east by Pahiatua, Wairarapa
North, and Wairarapa South Counties; on
the south by Hutt County; on the west by
the sea: together with the Boroughs of
Onslow, Karori, Wellington, and Melrose.
Comprising the Manawatu, Oroua, and
Horowhenua Counties, and the islands of
Kapiti, Mana, and Chatham, and the
Boroughs of Feilding, Palmerston North,
and Foxton: together with the Boroughs
of Onslow, Karori, Wellington, and Mel-
rose, situate within the boundaries of No.
10 District.

Bounded on the north by Waipawa and
Patangata Counties; on the east generally
by the sea; on the south by Cook Strait;
on the west generally partly by the sea and
partly by Horowhenua and Oroua Coun-
ties: excluding from this area the
Boroughs of Onslow, Karori, Wellington,
and Melrose. Comprising the Pahiatua,
Wairarapa North, Wairarapa South, and
Hutt Counties, and the Boroughs of Pahi-
atua, Masterton, Carterton, Greytown,
Lower Hutt, and Petone.

Bounded on the north generally by the
sea; on the east by the sea; on the south
and south-west by Kaikoura, Amuri, Inanga-
hua, and Buller Counties; on the west by
the sea. Comprising Collingwood, Waimea,
Sounds, and Marlborough Counties, and the
Boroughs of Richmond, Nelson, Picton, and
Blenheim.

Bounded on the north by Collingwood
County; on the north-east by Waimea
County; on the south-east by Amuri, Sel-
wyn, Ashburton, Mackenzie, Waitaki, Vin-
cent, and Lake Counties; on the south by
Lake County; on the west and north-west
by the sea. Comprising Buller, Inangahua,
Grey, and Westland Counties, and the
Boroughs of Westport, Greymouth, Brun-
ner, Kumara, Hokitika, and Ross.

Bounded on the north generally by
Waimea and Marlborough Counties; on
the south-east by the sea; on the south
and south-west by Selwyn County; on
the north-west by Grey and Inangahua
Counties. Comprising Kaikoura, Amuri,
Cheviot, and Ashley Counties, and the
Boroughs of Rangiora and Kaiapoi.

Bounded on the north-east, south, and
west generally by Selwyn County. Com-
prising the Boroughs of St. Albans, Christ-
church, Sydenham, Linwood, and Wool-
ston.

Bounded on the north by the estuary
of the Heathcote River; on the north-east
and east by the sea; on the south generally
by the waters of Lyttelton Harbour; on
the west generally by Selwyn County.
Comprising the Boroughs of Sumner and
Lyttelton.

Bounded on the north by Selwyn County;
on the east by the sea; on the south by
the estuary of the River Avon; on the west
by the River Avon and Selwyn County.
Comprising the Borough of New Brighton.

Bounded on the north-east by Ashley
County; on the east and south by the sea;
on the south-west by Ashburton County; on
the north-west by Westland County; ex-
cluding from that area the Boroughs of St.
Albans, Christchurch, Sydenham, Linwood,
Woolston, New Brighton, Sumner, and Lyt-
telton. Comprising Selwyn and Akaroa
Counties, and the Borough of Akaroa.

Bounded on the north by the sea; on the
north-east generally by the sea; on the
south-east by Rodney County; on the south-
west by the sea. Comprising the Counties
of Mongonui, Whangaroa, Bay of Islands,
Hokianga, Whangarei, Hobson, and Otama-
tua, and the Borough of Whangarei.

Bounded on the north-west by the waters
of Kaipara Harbour and Otamatea County;
on the north-east generally by the waters
of Hauraki Gulf and Firth of Thames; on
the south generally by Waikato and Raglan
Counties; on the south-west by the sea:
including the Kermadec Islands, and Great
Barrier and all adjacent islands. Com-
prising the Counties of Rodney, Waitemata,
Eden, and Manukau, the Kermadec Islands,
and the Great Barrier Island and all ad-
jacent islands, and the Boroughs of Birken-
head, Devonport, Auckland, Parnell, New-
market, Newton, and Onehunga.

Bounded on the north by Manukau
County; on the east generally by the
Counties of Thames, Ohinemuri, Piako,
and West Taupo; on the south-east and
south by Clifton County; on the west by
the sea. Comprising the Counties of
Raglan, Waikato, Waipa, and Kawhia,
and the Boroughs of Hamilton and Cam-
bridge.

Bounded on the north generally by the
waters of the Firth of Thames, Hauraki
Gulf, and Bay of Plenty; on the east by
Waiapu County; on the south-east by
Cook and Wairoa Counties; on the south
by Hawke's Bay and Wanganui Counties;
on the west by the Counties of Clifton,
Kawhia, Waipa, and Waikato. Compris-
ing Coromandel, Thames, Ohinemuri,
Tauranga, Piako, Rotorua, Whakatane,
West Taupo, and East Taupo Counties, and
Mayor and Motiti Islands, and Boroughs of
Thames and Tauranga.

Bounded on the north, east, and south-
east by the sea; on the south-west by
Hawke's Bay County; on the north-west
by East Taupo and Whakatane Counties.
Comprising Waiapu, Cook, and Wairoa
Counties, and the Borough of Gisborne.

Bounded on the north generally by East
Taupo and Wairoa Counties; on the east
by the sea; on the south by Wairarapa
North and Pahiatua Counties; on the west
generally by Pohangina, Kiwitea, Rangi-
tikei, and Wanganui Counties. Compris-
ing Hawke's Bay, Waipawa, and Patangata
Counties, and the Boroughs of Napier,
Hastings, Dannevirke, and Woodville.

Bounded on the north by Kawhia County;
on the east by West Taupo and Wanganui
Counties, and the Borough of Wanganui;
on the south-west by the sea; on the west
and north-west generally by the sea. Com-
prising the Clifton, Taranaki, Stratford,
Hawera, Patea, and Waitotara Counties,
and the Boroughs of New Plymouth,
Hawera, and Patea.
