Conferring Criminal Jurisdiction on District Court of Wairarapa.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled “The District Courts Criminal Jurisdiction Extension Act, 1870” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is enacted that the Governor may, by Proclamation, from time to time declare that any District Court shall have cognisance of all felonies and indictable misdemeanours, as specified in the fourth section of the said Act: And whereas it is expedient that such jurisdiction should be conferred upon the District Court of Wairarapa:

Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, the Administrator of the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power vested in me by the said Act, and of all other powers enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that

THE DISTRICT COURT OF WAIRARAPA

shall, from and after the second day of August, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-seven, have cognisance of all felonies and indictable misdemeanours committed after the passing of the said Act within the district over which its jurisdiction extends, saving only the felonies and offences specially excepted in and by the fourth clause of the said Act.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir James Prendergast, Knight, Chief Justice, Administrator of the Government in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, at the Government House, at Wellington; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, this fourteenth day of July, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-seven.

Land set apart as a Site for a Native Township in the Auckland Land District.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by the third section of “The Native Townships Act, 1895,” I, James Prendergast, the Administrator of the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the parcel of Native land situated in the Auckland Land District, and described in the Schedule hereto, shall be and the same is hereby set apart as a site for a Native township, and I do hereby assign the name of “Kaimakau” to such Native township.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District, being part of the Harataunga No. 2 Block, situate in Blocks IX. and X., Harataunga Survey District, and containing by admeasurement 190 acres, more or less. Bounded towards the north by Harataunga River; towards the east by Kennedy’s Bay to the mouth of the Kaimakau Creek; towards the south by a right line running thence due west to the Harataunga River, 3860 links or thereabouts; and towards the west and north-west by the Harataunga River to the point of commencement.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir James Prendergast, Knight, Chief Justice, Administrator of the Government in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, at the Government House, at Wellington; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, this fourteenth day of July, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety-seven.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred by the one hundred and sixty-second section of “The Land Act, 1892,” and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf, I, James Prendergast, the Administrator of the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the block of land described in the Schedule hereto shall be and the same is hereby set apart and declared open for a special settlement.

SCHEDULE.

MANGAPOUA IMPROVED SMALL-FARM SETTLEMENT BLOCK.

ALL that area in the Taranaki Land District, containing by admeasurement 1,000 acres, more or less, being Sections Nos. 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, and 43, Block XI., Waitara Survey District, and Sections Nos. 1, 3, and 5, Block XII., Waitara Survey District: as the same is delineated on plan marked S.G. 26896, deposited at the Head Office of the Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
