Extending Time for holding Elections, &c., Kaikoura River District.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this tenth day
of May, 1897.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THE GOVERNMENT
IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by the twenty-seventh section of “The
River Boards Act, 1884,” it is enacted that on the
second Tuesday in January, one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-five, and on the same day in every third year
thereafter, all the members of the Board shall go out of
office, and a general election of members shall take place:
And whereas by misadventure no election was held on the
second Tuesday in January, one thousand eight hundred
and ninety-seven (being the day upon which an election
should have been held), to elect members to the Kaikoura
River Board:
And whereas by the forty-third section of the said Act it
is enacted, among other things, that the Governor, by Order
in Council notified in the Gazette, may extend the time
allowed for the holding of any election or meeting of the
Board, whether the day may have passed on which the
same ought to have been held or not:
And whereas it is expedient that the neglect to hold such
election as aforesaid should be remedied:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Administrator of the
Government of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and
exercise of all the powers enabling him in this behalf, and
by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of the said colony, doth hereby extend the time for holding
the election of members of the Kaikoura River Board to the
twenty-sixth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and
ninety-seven, and doth hereby order and declare that such
election shall take place at the Kaikoura Suburban School-
house, that George Renner shall be the Returning Officer to
conduct such election, and that the first meeting of the said
Board shall take place at the residence of Mr. Benjamin
Burland, Kaikoura, on the twenty-ninth day of May, one
thousand eight hundred and ninety-seven, at the hour of
seven o’clock in the evening ; and, lastly, that the provisions
of “The Regulation of Local Elections Act, 1876,” so far as
applicable, shall extend to the election to be held hereunder.

Extension of Time for Preparation of County Rolls,
Inangahua.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this tenth day
of May, 1897.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THE GOVERNMENT
IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS it has been made to appear that, owing to
unavoidable circumstances, the preparation of the
rolls for the County of Inangahua, and the taking of certain
steps consequent on such preparation, cannot be made and
taken within the times limited by “The Counties Act, 1886,”
and it is expedient to extend the said times respectively:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Administrator of the
Government of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers conferred upon him by the said Act,
and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Execu-
tive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and
declare that the several dates mentioned in the Schedule
hereto shall be the respective dates for taking the several
steps set out in the said Schedule.

SCHEDULE.

  1. For preparing the rolls for ridings within the County of
    Inangahua: Until the 22nd June, 1897.
  2. Time for which such rolls shall be open for inspection:
    From the 27th June, 1897, to the 15th July, 1897.
  3. Time for appeals against the said rolls: Until the 31st
    July, 1897.
  4. Revision Courts may sit for hearing applications with
    reference to the said rolls, and adjourn: Until the 20th
    August, 1897.
  5. Time when the said rolls, having been duly corrected
    and signed, shall come into force: On the 1st September,
